blet, they are taking another seat that someone else could have used to get to that particular destination. i think they should compensate the airlines (and in a way the other person) for that one less passenger. |

Alright, so do healthy people get 1st class tickets at half price? I can understand if you have a medical condition that you can't control, but come on, just because you can't put down a freaking cheeseburger? |

If you think about it, which would you prefer, letting the fat people have their two seats and just not worrying about it, or trying to squeeze yourself in bewteen their giant mamba jamba rolls while they try and mold themselves into one seat? I say just let them alone. |

Hmm i dont think they should pay prices of 2 seats, because thats alot of money... depending where you go. But it shouldnt be 1 seat fare either, not fair to the companies. The fat people should pay for 1 and a half seats for the 2... only thing i can think of |

Duckboy..what do you have as evidence that I don't support capitalism? Making airline seats smaller and smaller over the years then charging people extra if they don't fit in those seats is your idea of capialism? If they have a real condition that causes obesity then I agree with the courts ruling. All the 'self-made' fat folks should be shipped by train and truck if they need two seats. |

geez, what happened to company rights and fairness, if someone is such a fatty that they take up 2 seats, the company should be allowed the right to charge them for it, no exceptions |

Heehee I am not sure I got my point across as clearly as I wanted... I ran out of characters. :) My point is, It's your fault you're fat, your fault you are miserable and no one else's... The only excuse I would accept for fatness would be that the person is paralyzed from the neck down and they were force fed. Malignant tumors are also acceptable.... but only really huge ones. |

Try being an obese 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th grader. Even freshmen in high school are abused. If you haven't gone through it, you don't understand what you can go through. Any weird noise when you walk somewhere, any fabric tearing, is blamed on your obesity, even if it's something normal.

A packet of smokes costs $14 in AU, of which over $8 is government tax to pay for medical and hospital care for the sick. I seriously think this is a stupid ruling, the airline contracts with a passenger to carry them from A to B so on the face of it, it seems fair that they then have to provide seating arrangements big enough for the person as part of that contract. But legislating it opens a huge can of worms legally - will taxi's and busses now charge fat people more because the vehicle uses more fuel? McDonalds charge more because it requires extra toilet cleaning when they use the facilities? Will they pay extra council taxes for causing more than average wear and tear on pavement? Cruise ships charge more because more water is displaced therefore more fuel needed to move? Sure this airline decision is a "victory" for the fat, but the rules and regulations that could come about as a result, to protect any service provider and make sure of a "user pays" system, may eventually make it a huge backfire. |

did i also forget to mention that the poor man who opened the restaurant was put out of business and the lazy bastard who did it to him could only say things about how the food served there was obviously tainted with an addictive substance and purposely loaded with calories as the poor 76 year old (i think) man walked out crying saying his livelihood was gone. so yeah i think i am allowed to say what i said |

xparanoia, yes actually there is a man who filed such a law suit against a local burger joint in my birth town and for some stupid reason he won then after doing so, used the cash to set up a "clubhouse" for people over 275lbs. so they could bitch all day about how society needs to be fatter. is that fair? |
