Sunday, November 23, 2008 9:32:45 AM This is nothing. I did a semester abroad on a cruise ship and we hit some really awful weather right before we docked in South Africa. Plates were flying, our beds were rolling around in our cabins, people were getting sick left and right. I was on the third deck and when the ship rocked, the water would come up to my window. The infirmary ran out of dramamine. It was scary but kind of fun. |

Saturday, November 22, 2008 11:32:45 PM Firstly to whoever said that 'travelling by sea' is snobbish... a cruise isn't just a transport method, it's usually the cruise itself that people book for. And to whoever said about stuff beng secured down... you can't really do that with tables and chairs and cutlery and plant pots and stuff. The reason its NOT secured is because as you can see by the crew reaction, such rough water is very uncommon. Usually on a cruise liner you can barely feel it move. |

Saturday, November 22, 2008 4:59:15 PM @Trumple07You've missed the entire point of a cruise ship. You don't go on one to get somewhere. You go on it to enjoy the ship, and visit some places along the way. Hence CRUISE ship. |

Saturday, November 22, 2008 2:52:25 PM wow....i can only imagine what that would be like. Like someone said already, the angle the ship was at must have been more than I'd say 20 degrees. Wouldnt you have thought all that poo would be secured? Not prepared. Obviously boy scouts didnt build that ship. |

Saturday, November 22, 2008 2:48:45 PM I would be so terrified. But I also can't help but think of the amount of vomit the cleaning staff on that boat will have to clean up afterwards. They get an extra amount of money for each puddle though (heard this from a few friends of mine who work on cruise ships). And there are many of them, what with the seasickness, lots of drinking, and foodpoisonings from the buffets. |
