Thursday, November 20, 2008 12:00:46 PM Eh well, I'll move to New Zealand and watch the All Blacks year-round. Football doesn't have enough action for my tastes. You almost never see footballers fight for the goal for 5 minutes straight. They have small breaks in between plays to catch their breath and decide what to do. Rugby, you make it up as you go and try to scrap your way to the end. |

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 9:18:44 PM ok last and final comment. ill say it again, i dont think people play sports for the money. and especially when your younger and in highschool or something, i dont think people join football teams in the hopes of a salary. and finally i played against a team and one of the players got put into a coma and died. how many football players do you know goin into coma's? no pads, tougher players, and smarter players than football...and im done. and on a side note i hate all these new i-am-boreders with the random face pic.. where did you all come from? i leave for like 2 weeks and your everywhere lol |

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 7:47:51 PM volcom you need to calm down guy, i mean generally speaking american football players are bigger and faster than rugby players. and generally speaking rugby players are tougher and have more endurance than american football players.and yes the salary argument is irrelevant but there is no need to get heated he was merely stating a fact. besides, its not like they're gonna play against each other anyway. and if they did none of us would be complaining either way. |

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 4:56:48 PM Shouldn't this be on the "arguments that can't be won" comments page?By the way, if you think that's horrific read about this poor rugby kid who killed himself because of his injuries: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hereford/worcs/7677706.stm |

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 2:45:43 PM HOLY CRAP How does that happen? Was it like super whiplash or something? Cringe worthy. Honest to God, I had no idea there was such a thing as Canadian football until like two days ago when they showed some highlights on ESPN. |

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 12:42:24 PM "are you stupid or something? do you really believe that most people go into sports for the money? i would like to beleive that they do it for the love of the game and their skill in it.?" @ 11Volcom11 Kind of uncalled for, implying that I'm stupid. But to answer your question, "Yeah, me stupid." Yeah, I believe most people do "go into sports" to score a big payday. Regardless of what you'd "like to believe," I doubt we'd see many people committing their lives to grueling two-a-days and the travel and discipline if they were making minimum wage doing it. Sure, some would, but I doubt there would be many. I don't see many amateur football leagues here in the U.S. Maybe you're right, though. Maybe rugby players are stronger and faster and tougher and more brutal than NFL players, but choose to turn down millions of dollars each year so they can go out and play against others who do it simply for the love of the game. |

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 12:27:30 PM JimboH, again your agument that rugby players make less than football players is completely unimportant. football in the U.S. is like american soccer in europe, where rugby is generally based. salary takes no part in this argument. and you say that rugby players would play football if they could? are you stupid or something? do you really believe that most people go into sports for the money? i would like to beleive that they do it for the love of the game and their skill in it.for all those saying football players are bigger and strong. show me the stats and ill take your word for it. i look pretty damn big in football pads to, and all those comments are coming from people in the u.s. who probly have watched a few youtube videos of rugby before deciding who is bigger and stronger. and to those people rolling their eyes going "another argument between rugby and football" you should have assumed that when you read the caption beside the title, get over it. |
