Friday, November 07, 2008 7:55:23 PM Wow, not only is the news fake, but now the fake things(holograms) that report the fake news are fake too. Fake fake things reporting fake news. They deserve a Golden GlEmmy. |

Thursday, November 06, 2008 10:32:16 PM Anyone who didn't know this needs to be euthanized in the name of preserving what is left of human intelligence. Blitzer even pointed out that he couldn't actually see the hologram except for on a monitor. The technology was demonstrated to show that we have the technology to record a 3d hologram. We just lack the ability to project it properly. It would take several projectors just like it took several cameras. Also projecting the image into open space is impossible, something needs to stop the projection of light, like a screen stops a typical projector. Just having a 3d image float in space is not possible becuase you can't stop light, you can only bounce it, reflect it or refract it. And like lionhart2's link displays, it can only be done as a flat image projected on screen. Princess Leia style hologram's are impossbile, at least as far as we currently know. |

Thursday, November 06, 2008 8:49:10 PM "35 high-definition cameras set in a ring inside a special tent, which were processed and synchronized by 20 computers" --------------------------------- Well at least it's efficient. |

Thursday, November 06, 2008 5:02:39 PM They said it was done with cameras. They basically said we're calling it a hologram, but it's not really a hologram. What's the big deal? |

Thursday, November 06, 2008 3:58:31 PM sad thing is, if you've looked at actual hologram technology, most of them require a fine mist or a waterfall or something else to project the light onto. CNN does the same thing with the pie chart that they could "hold"; they just use glyf tracking to create the image. same idea, just applied with multiple cameras "projecting" to a single location.Just thought i oughta point it out. |

Thursday, November 06, 2008 3:16:39 PM For the record, even CNN's claim that this was a world first was fake - Telstra Australia did a live hologram of its CEO to a conference in May 2008, and it was a lot more convincing that the CNN one (watch it here). The CNN one was superimposed via standard bluescreen technology, whereas the Telstra one the other guy on stage was seeing exactly what the audience was - a much "truer" hologram but still not a real sci-fi style one. Read how the Telstra hologram was done here. |

Thursday, November 06, 2008 1:30:09 PM You mean someone actually thought Wolf Blitzer was actually seeing a 3-D Jessica Yellin? Come on......Now I personally could find several ways to enjoy a 3-D Jessica Yellin... but that's just because I've actually had the opportunity to talk to her in person. |
