Sunday, November 09, 2008 5:25:52 PM The real issue is: Why did you let their parents reproduce? |

Monday, November 03, 2008 3:31:19 AM I agree samidoll, but religion still defines it has a holy union, because it is between a man and a woman. Religion can't define homosexual marriages as anything. It shouldn't happen in Christianity at all, ever. Just like there shouldn't be gay priests. The point is, why can't homosexuals have their rights, without the word?

Sunday, November 02, 2008 3:47:30 PM elkingo, thank you. It get's really hard to convince people that no, I don't want to squash their religious beliefs and I don't especially care what my partnership is called, but that I just want the same rights everyone else has.I think if more people saw this proposition in that way, more people would be voting no. |

Sunday, November 02, 2008 2:02:02 PM "We don't just want the word marriage, we want our rights." You bring up a point that I think should have been made all along. You don't need the word to have the rights you know. I gays should have all of the rights you mentioned, even though I think its wrong, homosexuality I mean, its not my religious right to force my beliefs on to you. You should have the same rights, just not the holy part of it, as it is a sin. I think that is where the divide comes in. |

Sunday, November 02, 2008 12:46:00 PM Wow, I relly love seeing all these posts saying that prop 8 doesn't take away any rights. As of now, 'civil unions' have about one third of the rights 'marriags' have. I would like to have all my rights please, and i'm sure every other same-sex couple who wants to get married would like them too. |

Sunday, November 02, 2008 12:31:24 PM Because the only reason to get married is to have kids. As of now, if you are in a 'civil union' you have some of the rights as a marriage; minus the really important ones like property ownership, hospital visits (yeah, your wife or husband is dying. You can't say goodbye. How do you feel about that? Sucks doesn't it?)and gardianship if you have children. We don't just want the word marriage, we want our rights. |

Sunday, November 02, 2008 9:37:01 AM Understand this elkingo, giving straight people marriage and gay people civil unions keeps us separated! Many gay people grew up Christians and believe in the Christan values. They may not agree with everything that is said (i.e homosexuality is bad) but one doesn't necessarily have to 100% agree with what their religion teaches. As long as they follow their own set of laws and ethics, they can continue to live a long and happy life. I'm not sure why a religion that's all about love would be against that.By saying gays can't call what they have a marriage, takes out country back 100 years. Imagine in today's world we said "Ok, men can vote but women have to 'cast a ballot'" It's the same thing with different names. You're taking two groups and your segregating them. By banning gay marriage and promoting "civil unions" you're saying, "You're not like us! We get the expensive $200 a bottle champagne and you get $12 dollar bottle. It's the same thing rig |

Sunday, November 02, 2008 9:28:03 AM My mom could be a man and my dad could be a woman? I wonder if anyone actually believes this statement. There are no established male/female roles in a gay relationship. You don't get married and say "Ok, I'll be the mom and you be the dad!" |
