I'm thinking the most likely explanation is that the ref saw his only choice was to bump into him or to get trampled.
Or that this is just stupid and fake. |

That ref needs to get kicked out, fired, and who knows what else. He should have moved out of the way instead of trying to hit the QB (or any player). You could tell he intended to hit him too, he lowered his shoulder and went for it. That is never acceptable, even if the QB is a big PUSSY. |

There had to be a reason... refs just don't do that. Clearly he didn't actually TACKLE the QB, the LSU guy did, but that was still pretty awesome. |

I just saw it on ESPN, apparently the ref was a linebacker at the University of Kentucky in his colleg days.Still lol, because there's no way this was not intentional. Besides, there wasn't much of an effect, as South Carolina still scored, and LSU won anyway. But that QB probably has a shattered ego right now. |

He barely tackled him. The referee had no actual chance of tackling him to the ground, he just unbalanced him. The guy from the other guy finished him off. |
