If you're close enough to witness the initial explosion, you're blind afterward. The flash is so intense it causes permanent damage to your eyes.. inducing blindness. (Thus why you'll often see old footage of soldiers standing around wearing welder's goggles) Personally, Nukes are amazing and offer a WHOLE new doorway into so many technological advances (good) in every day life.. but of course they can destroy you and this world in a flash..
Just think.. what destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki AND went off in the Tsar bomb... is the same energy, same reaction, same sequence that has fueled our existence here on the Earth because of the Sun. FASCINATING! The shockwave from the Tsar bomb was felt three times as it circled the Earth. That's AMAZING. Such raw power.. |

Sunday, October 12, 2008 4:26:52 AM Know what I find scary?Nukes. Just look outside one day. Look at the horizon. And then try to picture a blinding flash, and once it disappeared, a giant mushroom cloud above it. Within seconds the shock wave will reach you and kill you...and there's nothing you could ever have done to prevent it. Scary poo. Although some people have argued with me that a nuke would incinerate everything within a 100km radius....but i told them that the nuclear fallout might go that far depending on the winds, but they argued anyways... |

Saturday, October 11, 2008 9:14:34 PM Tsar Bomba ( King of Bombs) was the strongest atomic bomb ever detonated. Its actual yield was ~ 100 megatons. By comparison, the USA's strongest bomb is 20 MT> Our pooe is more accurate, but with that kind of yield, you can miss Burbank and still kill Seattle. You dig? |

Saturday, October 11, 2008 5:37:39 PM When are we gonna make some goddamn laser canons and lightsabers? Isn't our technology advanced enough yet? I am so sick and tired of waiting... |

Saturday, October 11, 2008 4:23:50 PM "Russians could never be that precise, their bombs would explode kilometers away from their targets. So what they did, they made them SO huge, even if they'd miss by kilometers, they would still destroy their targets, as well as anything near them. "Now THATS creative thinking! |

Saturday, October 11, 2008 3:35:59 PM Why am I doubting that, in this day and age, that's the largest explosive? |

Saturday, October 11, 2008 11:42:58 AM The plane that carried that bomb was a TU-95. NORAD codename "Bear" (Bomber aircraft start with "B", such as "Bear", "Badger", "Blackjack"). There are different models/variations of that plane which gives it a suffix, "Bear-H", "Bear-J".I knew the Bear had the ability to carry out a "Code Robert" hahaha. |
