2 - Because of the limitation and rules that elite and ufc impose, that means that fighters have to actually use strategy when they fight. UF learned a long time ago that an NHB/Brawl fight means you can potentially loose fighters. Which means you loose rematches/fueds/potential match ups. Which means you loose main events. Which means you loose fans, which means you loose money... see how that works? The rules are in place for 2 reasons, 1 it gives fighters boundries to work within and they can either see those rules as an advantage, or a disadvantage. a good fighter will use them to their advantage, a bad fighter sees it as a limitation. 2 It prevents fighters from critical injuries like i mentioned above. The rematch between Slice and Petruzelli will sell a lot of tickets and be watched intensly. This fight might have sucked, but i garantee the next fight will rock... |

Ok, i know im a little late on this thread and its prolly dead by now, but i feel the need to educate you intarwebs on MMA matches.
1 - Kimbo lost because he didnt understand the rules of the league, much like gracie's comeback fight. If you do not actively defend yourself when your being pounded on, then the match will be called and you will loose. Its in the rules. If you are going to step into a league with rules, you play by those rules, and you win or loose by those rules. period. This isnt the UFC early years where fighters went until they couldnt stand or something broke, like in gracie's hey day. That where gracie screwed up in his return, he thought he could just go on, but he didnt actively defend himself according to rules so they called the match. Same situation here. Petruzelli knew the rules, thats why he was speed punching him while he was undefended, he knew the rules, he played by the rules, and he won by the rules. |

I'm still trying to figure out why this guy is saying it's the most incredible victory in MMA. Kimbo is a joke. He took one punch and curled up in the fetal position and took a beating. I mean if he's gonna be there just for pure entertainment, he should at least last a round or something. I mean c'mon 14 seconds. Totally not worth my time. |

"lol it's funny he first started backing up against the wall and kicking him like a little girl xDD".... yeah he's a little girl because he knew what he was doing and used proper technique and ended up winning. in 14 seconds. kimbo sucks compared to the top fighters like silva or st. pierre, put him against some actual fighters and he fails miserably. btw the guy who beat kimbo was my personal trainer/roomate's training partner.
