the reality is. black =violence white = understanding..get over the racism and just watch the news or work a 911 call center. its not economics. even big money rappers and any other black that makes money, gotta be a thug!! |

wow... interesting. i'd never even heard of the original study. some of the kids look like they may have been coached off camera though... not sure what purpose that would serve, and i am probably wrong, just a small observation. |

the white dolls are just shown more on television and commercials and such. So it's like some trend that probably all kids enjoy.(Thinks about a black barbie)

I'd say its because babies from white parents are much more common on television and movies and therefore a trend. But I'm no psycholigist, so I dont know sh*t. |

I have a little sister and brother who are 7 and 5, respectively. Trust me, these little poos will lie, or say things simply to provoke. My little sister, half-jokingly, accused me of having sex with a girl while my mother was away. She said she was kidding, but does that somehow imply that she is a sexual beast of seven year old? No, she just knew saying something about sex(which she knows little about, like maybe racism in this video) what put us older people into conniptions and make her laugh. She didn't drating mean it. I know it can't account for all those results (which definitely raise some questions), but about that little black boy who said the doll was nice because it was white...give me a break. He had a goddamned grin on his face when he said it. |

Maybe white is simply more of a psychologically appealing color than black? I remember reading in my psych class that the human eye is automatically attracted to the color white becasue it is lazy. Then there is the impact that color can have on mood. I don't think it's an accident that Goth kids like to dress in black. That is, of course cultural, in some Asian countries the color white is the color of death and has those connotations. Just some thoughts. |

dyou think maybe its because black dolls aren't advertised as extensively as white ones? i mean, do black polly pockets exist? and i know there are black barbies, but i haven't seen one since i went into KB toys to buy my niece a present. |

It's not just the race of the doll, if you think about it. the race is just a part of the whole picture. If you took a barbie(blond) and a teresa(brunette) doll and gave them a choice, which do you think they will pick? Do the same experiment with white kids, who will they pick? Bet you anything, barbie over teresa. Almost every little girl has the same expecation of what they have to look like to be considered 'good' or 'pretty'no matter what the race. It's really sad.
