Friday, September 26, 2008 7:52:33 PM Because there are already olympic events that require way more precision, balance, and strength. Although I bet one of these days Parkour parks start showing up. |

Friday, September 26, 2008 10:04:50 AM Parkour is being confused with free running here.... Parkour = moving from A -> B as quickly and efficently as possible (like the martial art of running away) Free running = Backflips and probable death. I'm good at the former and to feart (scottish for afraid) to try the former. |

Friday, September 26, 2008 8:55:39 AM Hey Negative_One, you ever see a movie recently that has people doing these kinda stunts? Well guess what, it's those spazzes making thousands of dollars for doing something unique, and talented. I'd say it's more than a hobby to them, it's their job too. |

Friday, September 26, 2008 6:15:19 AM parkour isnt an olympic sport because its not competitive at all. It is entirly to do with overcoming mental and physical barriers, rather than trying to be better than the next guy |

Friday, September 26, 2008 6:11:28 AM danthew,.. probably ruptured your anterior crucial ligament.. happened to me ( not doing parcour) ask your doc for help.. you might not notice it yet if your leg/knee muscles are strong but it can lead to bone damage and a stiff knee |

Friday, September 26, 2008 5:24:40 AM I nearly broke my knee trying out parkour. I was basically rolling over a bar and when I put my foot down my shoes gripped the floor and I kept turning. Couldn't walk for half an hour... That put me off |

Friday, September 26, 2008 1:38:27 AM This won't become an olympic sport, much like motorcross and freestyle bmx never did. That's what the x games are for. It would be gay if it were an organized sport. For example, pads, lower obstacles. That's like saying skateboarding is cooler in the x games than it is in real life. |

Friday, September 26, 2008 12:12:40 AM nice editing and animation, weak parkour compared to others.it looks like it would be interesting to try, but i don't have near as many balls as those guys do. it would be neat if it were something I could do. but, i think it's a half-baked idea for me, really. i'm lazy, so i don't think it'd be worth the work. </expose?> |

Friday, September 26, 2008 12:01:05 AM Vindicate, that's why you're not retarded and you don't do this stuff until you're sure you can. There are safe areas where you can practice an otherwise dangerous move, and once you perfect it, you can attempt it outside. Also, injuries come mostly from carelessness, and the balance comes with practice, it's not a prerequisite. |

Thursday, September 25, 2008 11:33:29 PM True, Cman. And there will always be those who had a knack for it and rise above the rest. Of course, this means they probably practice more too, and their drive is deeper. |

Thursday, September 25, 2008 11:05:36 PM 90% mental, until you bash your head in on a cement sidewalk from a bad jump, right? True, they have to work to get where they are now, but it's still not for everyone. There is some amount of balance and coordination required before you can attempt it. And those that don't have those basic skills are S.O.L. Not to mention that not everyone wants to risk life and limb for an art. Painting is just as artistic and significantly less dangerous to boot. But that's my two cents. Feel free to disagree all you like. |

Thursday, September 25, 2008 10:55:36 PM Opie, parkour is 1% talent, 9% strength and 90% mental. The mind is limitless, so if you believe you can, you will almost always get better at parkour. Maybe at one point you will reach a limit to how high you can jump, or how fast you can run, but there will still be no limit on parkour, because those 2 things only matter to a certain extent. |
