Wednesday, September 17, 2008 9:33:20 PM Or it could just be the fact that everyone in the sample was over 61 years old. 61+ years old and testing the memory loss in 5 years. Give me a drating break |

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 5:25:28 PM This article, more than saying vegetarianism is bad is saying that most vegetarians don't look for the required nutrients in other sources like they need to. |

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 4:55:59 PM Vegetarianism requires that you consider alternative sources for vital nutrients. Animal carcass is not the only source for these nutrients, so the arrogant appraisal that this study somehow vindicates carnivores as being in the right is a flawed assertion to say the least. I've been a vegetarian for almost a decade and there has been no detriment to my health, and there are vegetarians far older than I am. Research studies are contradicted on a constant basis, so don't look to a singular source if you're looking for a justification for eating animals. I could cite an infinite number of reasons why vegetarianism is healthier, more ethical, and the nobler choice. Please enjoy your carrion, but don't use science as a justification for it. You can buy vitamin B-12 in any pharmacy. |

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 4:50:11 PM Oh yeah, he's a total loser... except that you clearly didn't read the article, he's merely restated the facts from said article. Studies show any number of conflicting sorts of datum depending on who's engaging in the study, who paid to fund the study, and the general bias of those partaking in the research, however in this instance the research does seem sound. But as several people have pointed out, and as some of you are clearly far too dense to absorb, Vitamin B12 is a vital component in avoiding any detriment to your health if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle. If you want to eat animal corpse have at it. It certainly is within your right, but it is equally within other people's right to choose alternately, and it only makes you look like an ass to berate them. Scientific studies are important building blocks in constructing an argument, but context is imperative. Scientific studies are the beginnings of fact, not the end. |

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 4:22:30 PM If you actually read the article, you'll see that it only applies to vegetarians at an age when everything in your body starts going south, and also only if they don't get enough vitamin B12, which is definitely possible to get in a vegetarian form. Myth: BUSTED!! |

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 2:59:23 PM "You probably shouldn't try to read emothions, because they are REALLY hard to convey without tone of voice, and facial expressions."I believe I've already said something to that effect. All I ever really had an issue with was your insistence on throwing around pointless remarks about certain people being akin to feminine genital wash, while simultaneously arguing the futility of the conversation. |

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 2:59:14 PM Just remember, vegetarianism exploded roughly half a century ago and veganism more recently. While there were vegetarians beforehand, they didn't exist in as big of numbers. In the next 20 years, that population will be entering the later years in life.I think we will see the long-term effects of vegetarian diets in a very convincing sample of the population. I for one am predicting a spike in Alzheimer cases. |
