my mate made one of these years ago but he used a huge combustion chamber and small barrel(3" combustion chamber 1.5" barrel) huge bang probably a mile range if used like his in the video!! The big one won't knock you off your feet either he was sooo faking it! now try launching flaming cans of lighter gas?? |

my family has like 3 of those i didnt know they were that uncommon...they are pretty cool if you shoot them at night you can see flame come out. we like to skip them across lakes and in canyons and stuff |

my cousin made one like the bazooka.. except it's only 41/2 feet. but man does that thing have kick... we dont shoot potatoes though.. no we use those black hard rubber balls that they use in carnival games.. ya know the one where you shoot down the annoying clowns... those balls.. wrap then in newspaper and they make perfect ammo... and im pretty sure we have fired them farther than 1/8 of a mile |

And PVC is WAY better than ABS. A lot of ABS is foam core - deadly - not to mention the entire spudding community uses either steel or PVC, very rarely ABS.

Hahaha itsallbad i made a couple myself before neighbours got pissed off and threatened to call the cops even though these are legit where im around. I dont get it his isnt that special itsj ust a regular potatoe cannon. AND instead of PVC i used ABS cuz when something messes up it doesnt shatter into little deadly shards of PVC that fly into your eyes but it just cracks a bit and lets pressure out. Ive made a couple of potato guns in my youth and have a couple things to add. Whoever commented to say hairspray doesn't work is wrong. It works way better than it should in my opinion. Especialy Aquanet brand. Which by this poster's estimation is .025% holding solution and 99.975% rubbing alcahol. Second thing, if you want to increase your effectiveness do the following. File the end of the barrel to a nice cutting edge. It make loading potatos a lot easier. Also, load the potato in the end of the barrel but dont ram it in all the way until AFTER you load your fuel (hairspray,starter fluid, wd40, gasoline). Ramming the potato after loading the fuel compresses the airfuel mixture which causes the fuel to burn more efficiently. Just like the piston of an engine...
Oh, and make sure when you put the thing together you sand the joints before using joint glue, otherwise your gun will come apart. I learned that the hard way... |

made a few of these. Destroyed one of our potato cannons when my brother jammed his mates socks down the barrel. The socks were lost but the cannon broke as well. Make sure u don't jam stuff in too tight. Use stuff that has lubrication (fruits, vegetables. stuff with liquid in em). Also use butane aerosols (stuff u refill lighters with) as it doesn't leave residue in the combustion chamber. Also don't aim at people and don't fire it next to your head... in the chance the pvc does fail it will shatter and leave fragments in your head (although if you do this you are not using your brain anyway so there isn't really any loss). Also a grate way to cast your fishing line a long distance (it does work). |
