By far the single most boring list I've ever read. Kind of like reading the scrolling NASDAQ stock ticker at the bottom of the news on a particularly boring day. |

These weren't websites. The web wasn't invented when these domains were registered. The internet is more than just the web (HTTP is just another protocol that runs on the net). Back then, the primary use for a domain name was email, then FTP (file transfer), IRC (chat & forums), and gopher (a way to hyperlink text documents, this was the concept the web was based on). Pron and warez were on the BBS's; these were private systems (usually in someone's living room or basement) you could dial into. There was a constant cat/mouse game between the elite and the feds, as well. The history of the frontier was incredible. Good times. |

whoa. i did what niconico said. you can see some of those websites as they were 12 years ago. it's funny, at least one i tried (stargate.com) referenced the fact that they were a very old domain. now it's owned by someone else entirely. |
