I would clone my dog, but not my husband or family.

i would feel really poo if i cloned my boyfriend and he dumped me... its not like i can say since i cloned you, you have to stay with me forever or until I'm done with you..

i wouldnt clone a whole person, thats stupid. it would eventually look the same as a loved one but it wouldnt be that person. i think cloning should be allowed for organs though. it would save millions of people if you didnt have to wait on a donor's list

Not wanting to have human cloning become common, even that of lost loved ones, doesn't need to have anything to do with a belief in God or not wanting to "play" Him.

The world does not work like the movie multiplicity...but it'd be cool if it did.

Okay, it's not that I have a problem with "playing God." I just think it's ridiculous because just because the cloned person LOOKS like the original person doesn't necessarily mean it will ever be anything like the original person... personality wise.

And like Kaizer said, the person might not even look exactly like the other person :p

I believe in souls? It makes no sense?

This further re-enforces my belief that people are stupid. Cloning somebody dead is not like getting them back, human or dog. There will always be quite a few genetic mutations to keep from being genetically identical. Theoretically, if enough mutations took place in the right spots, the clone might not even have the same hair color as the original. Also, it is experiences and memories working in tandem with genetic predispositions that shape somebody, not something as clean cut and simple as their genetic makeup.
Frankly, you'd be better off just buying a new dog/adopting a kid, because the clone isn't going to be anything like the original. I could only really understand cloning if you have really good genes and don't want them contaminated by another person's, or if you're cloning in animals/plants, in order to have a particular trait.

What Adoras said.

If making a same-age clone were possible, I'd self-clone, and f*ck it up the ass. Because I'm g*ddamn awesome and I love myself.

Gotta say nah, ya can replicate someones DNA but not the personality, that comes from their life experiences and the ppl around them. Anyway, whats the point of cloning ya ex boyf/gf? ya gonna wait til they grow up? and ya think they gonna date ya a second time?

I definitely wouldn't clone a parent child or loved one cause they DIED!!!! That is sicko stuff, there! But I am not totally against human cloning, either. I think maybe we should try it once and see, huh? Maybe.

Why bother cloning them? Their soul's already been re-incarnated (Or that's what I believe, anyway). They'd have a different personality than the original, anyway. Go hire a good Necromancer. -___-

i say no. only because people would clone other humans with the mindset that the clone would be an EXACT copy. and then be disappointed when they find out they're not. they might look the same, but it is not the same person. or dog for that matter. that lady is nuts, and has way too much money. $50-100,000 to clone a dog...

it may look like the same dog, but it is not the same dog, crazy lady.

We spent all year in biology discussing human cloning, and there are so many flaws with it, that now i think it is wrong.
and while scientists are perfecting cloning loads of humans would suffer.
Also they wouldnt be the same person because their life wouldnt be the same, so they would have a completely different personality and behaviour etc.
Also they would have genetic problems, because their dna would be much older than the clone is.

in conclusion...i wouldnt.

I would NEVER clone myself. I can hardly stand me now. I wouldn't be able to handle both of me.

Plus it would creep me out and my boyfriend would make us have a threesome.

Mind you... if there would be a way to transfer all the memory from one individual to another it would be a different story.

We're not that far from there according to some neurologists studies.

Is not about God, it's about ethics.

If you clone someone the clone wont be the same person just the same appearance and the same genes. The clone will act differently, probably in a similar way but not identical.

He or she will be a new individual.

Cloning is only good for remplacement parts or, if you clone animals, for food. We can reproduce ourselves just fine.

And collecting the organs might not be so practical, what if your clone is ALSO a drinker, what if it's fat and lazy?

We could put the clones into staysis(sp?)..but then all the human rights groups would get pissy...
