For people who claim not to "get it", total eclipses are extremely rare. The only reason we have them is because of a precise set of circumstances. In the past the moon was too close to produce the dramatic effect it has today and in the future the moon will be too far away for it to happen. The moon's appearance is the same size as the appearance of the sun in the sky, so even if there are thousands of other planets out there, very very few of them will have eclipses like ours. So yeah it is a pretty impressive phenomena when you think of all the things that need to be happening in order to make it happen. Not to mention its both beautiful and mind blowing. |

For anyone disappointed that they missed it - it was only visible from northern Canada through Greenland and Siberia to central Asia. Unless you were in one of those places, you didn't miss much. |
