Soccer is the most watched/played/popular sport in the world, and David Beckham is the most recognized soccer player, therefore he must surely be the biggest name in sport! |

Haven't posted for a long time, but can't keep my mouth shut on this one:Alex Ovechkin was NHL MVP, not Sidney Crosby, and thus Ovechkin is the NHL's greatest athlete. Cristiano Ronaldo was Footballer of the Year, not Ronaldinho, and thus Cristiano Ronaldo is the best athlete in soccer. In fact, Kaka might have something to say about Ronaldinho even being the best Brazilian soccer player this year. |

Not having Tiger Woods on there seems to be a bit of an oversight, being that he is the most dominant player in his game in the world. Also, Crosby makes no sense at all. He was 28th in points last year. He had a terrible individual season despite the team going to the Cup Finals. This is a 2008 list, and it should take that into account. |

American Football is played in Europe and Canada. Baseball is played in Japan, Cuba, The Dominican Republic, and more. Second, I admit I was surprised that there were so many American athletes on the list. I thought it would be more even or maybe just one or two Americans on it. |

B. This should be called the Top 10 FAMOUS World Sports Athletes of 2008. If you wanna get into raw athleticism I think Antonio Cromartie deserves a spot on this list.

Well, I know f*ck all about sports and athletics in general, and I've only heard of/seen Federer and Ronaldo...so my opinion is void.
The Roman bloke seems good, but he's 33 and probably only going to go downhill from now. |

For best athlete in the world, just being able to run and jump isn't enough. Its power, speed, agility, creativeness, etc.And once The decathalon guy becomes dominate in his sport, he should be at 1 |

wow, primtimekin, stop being so naive. you should only insult the sports that youve played. you trying sprinting 400 meters in less than 44 secs then tell me its just sprinting. you try sprinting through hurdles and see if you can clear them without clipping your pubescent nuts or looking like an awkward duck. why dont you do a decathalon and tell us that its overrated. stop being a sophomoric prick. |

I hate this list. I hate this list... I hate it I hate it I hate it.10. A-rod isnt even the best athlete in terms of Baseball. The Soriano's of baseball are more athletic. He is the best player, but not most athletic
9. Im fine with it, maybe I had him a bit lower.
8.Sprinters can only sprint, should never make list
7.Hurdlers can only hurdle
6. Crosby deserved his spot
5.Federer cant even beat Nadal.
4. LT, deserved that if not higher
3.He is my vote for 1, one of the fastest boxers i've seen.
2. I thought it was too high but as an athlete it would make sense. 1. The only reason he made the list is because of tradition to name the decathalon winner the best athlete in the world.
It should be noted he doesnt dominate his sport, he will get beaten |
