Monday, July 14, 2008 6:27:25 AM There is a reason these are called the poor man's nuke. As for weaponization the Russians developed a disposable rocket launcher with this type of warhead, and have the equivalent force of a 155mm howitzer shell. As for why we don't use them all the time is simple. FAEs do their damage by overpressure which makes it extremely effective against soft targets, personnel in open, unarmored vehicles, unhardened buildings, minefields etc. They are rather ineffective against armored vehicles and other hardened targets. |

Sunday, July 13, 2008 1:09:36 PM This is called a thermobaric weapon. What's even weirder is that if a large one is used, when it burns up the oxygen it creates a vacuum. In other words, if a large thermobaric munition goes off close to you, even if you can find cover and survive, your lungs will get dragged out through your mouth. Fun. Yea, what else do you think i do to pass the time... |

Saturday, July 12, 2008 6:49:08 AM The thing is, it's a manikin! Not a test dummy! Still, I'm sure that's powerful as hell. |

Saturday, July 12, 2008 4:39:07 AM Yeah without sounding like you lot (i.e. a bunch of arses)quite cool, not sure what the hollow mannequin (note spelling for those who tried and failed) was supposed to show though - they break in the wind. |

Saturday, July 12, 2008 4:00:25 AM Also, osirisascend - everything about the government is so damn inefficient...money and man hours aren't really a consideration for government projects |

Saturday, July 12, 2008 3:56:28 AM ^^ looks like someones been reading their SAT prep book lately just in case anyone else was curious about the SAT word of the day:pon·tif·i·cate /n. [n. pon-tif-i-kit, -keyt; v. pon-tif-i-keyt] –noun 1. the office or term of office of a pontiff. –verb (used without object) 2. to perform the office or duties of a pontiff. 3. to speak in a pompous or dogmatic manner: Did he pontificate about the responsibilities of a good citizen? 4. to serve as a bishop, esp. in a Pontifical Mass.

Friday, July 11, 2008 11:24:20 PM ^^You are mistaken Grossen. It does not take a "long ass" time to set one up. If it did, it would be an inefficient use of man-hours and material, and therefore, would NOT be a part of our arsenal. You're not seeing them used in this conflict, because there is no need for them. Yet another armchair expert pontificating about something they know little (or NOTHING) about. Before you respond with some wise-ass comment, remember, I'm one of the ones who blows up bad guys for you. (And knows firsthand a thing or two about the real deal) |

Friday, July 11, 2008 9:26:00 PM That wasn't even a big one. Fuel air bombs are the most powerful conventional explosive we use, but it takes a long ass time to set one up. |
