Saturday, June 28, 2008 2:18:11 PM This actually happened to the house that I now live in but to the former owner. The water heater exploded through the sub floor, through the ceiling, through the roof and landing in the back yard. I hear the story from a member of the fire dept. and a neighbor. The house caught fire because along the way, it ripped out some wiring and it shorted out and caught the place on fire. The occupant's body was found under some walls that had collapsed. Anyway, we bought the house after it was totally remodelled. Just thought I'd pass it along that this COULD happen. You need to make sure all the safety valves are properly installed. |

Friday, June 27, 2008 2:07:54 PM Yeah, unless you purposely want this to happen and take off the safeguard valve, it won't. This is nifty, though. |

Friday, June 27, 2008 1:57:16 PM It's called a Pressure relife valve they tested this rumor to see if it was possible because it actually happen a long time ago before they put these valves onto them. They kinda shot through a bunch of peoples roofs. |

Friday, June 27, 2008 12:58:17 PM I used to do plumbing this wont happen there's a valve on there that will open up if there's too much pressure in there so if it was installed right this can't happen. |
