Hmm again, why shouldn't it be legal? The ball is put back into play... as long as the player doesn't interfere unfairly with the goalkeeper the referee have no reason to give a freekick. Why it doesn't happen that often ... you mean, in the leagues that you know of? On a global scale there's quite a few countries and their respective league/tournament systems to choose from. I'm sure major mistakes happen every minute, perhaps not always quite like this one, but still =) |

Rena, you can only be offside when receiving a pass from your OWN team player/member. When someone from the other team puts the ball in any position from any direction, you are never offside. |

Rena, you can only be offside if the ball is played forward by a player on the attacking side.
I come from Stockport so I wish there was an 'against the spirit of the game' rule like there is in cricket... |

I don't understand everyone saying it's not offside.He's not only behind the LAST defender (when the offside rule clearly states that a striker must be in front of TWO defenders), he's also behind the ball. When the goalie gets the ball, everyone runs out. He stays in an offside position behind the goalie AND the ball, and when the ball drops he moves into an onside position and makes a play for the ball. Completely illegal. |

To answer most questions here... It is allowed, it does happen a fair amount judging by the football mistakes DVDs I have, it isn't offside, nor does it have anything to do with the offside rule. |
