Friday, June 27, 2008 1:25:08 PM Hmmm I'm guessing the elevators would be in the direct center of the structure. Interesting concept. |

Friday, June 27, 2008 7:42:25 AM I really like the idea of the wind turbines, but the whole rotating idea just doesn't seem like it would have any purpose outside of novelty for those who don't live there. I mean don't get me wrong, it looks awesome, but seriously. Imagine you're lying in bed trying to sleep in your exorbitantly expensive penthouse and all of a sudden the whole thing starts rotating. I can't imagine it would be particularly quiet about it either, as it is such brand new technology and therefore not perfected. I imagine the turbines would only serve to slightly ease the gigantic power strain of the building on the city around it. I could definitely see the turbines being applied to normal, static skyscrapers. In a place like NYC, if every skyscraper was covered in wind turbines, I imagine it would actually make a pretty big difference. |

Thursday, June 26, 2008 1:23:48 PM WARNING: ***NOT THE FIRST MOVING SKYSCRAPERS***The first moving skyscraper was inaugurated in 2004 in Curitiba, south of Brazil. Links: http://tinyurl.com/69r7nk http://tinyurl.com/6j3jve http://tinyurl.com/5kv2ek (or just search the Internet yourself) Yes, Brazilians did it first again. What else did they do? How about some of these: - Telephone caller ID (since 1982) - Car fuel from sugar cane (NOT corn) - Airplane (don't waste your time with that catapulted-and-no-witness Wright Brother's stuff - spend your time doing research) - Quick X-Ray (like the one you have done of your chest) - Radio transmission (no, it wasn't Marconi); - Photgraphy - Type Writer ...what else? |

Thursday, June 26, 2008 12:12:29 PM why? because they plan on putting wind turbines on all of the floors... so whatever electricity they df use they will make up for it...but i think that it would be hard to find where you office is when it is constantly moving...don't cha think? |

Thursday, June 26, 2008 8:33:47 AM Abu Dhabi has oil, as do some of the other emirates. Dubai doesn't get much of that oil money. Dubai's main money is in Tourism and Real Estate, and projects like this are why. ~5% for Dubai More for UAE And FYI, ~ a quarter of the world's cranes are in Dubai. They are just 0.06% of the world's population. |
