Friday, June 13, 2008 8:43:49 AM the guy is called dan osman, for anyone who cares.and he had done the bungie jump type thing many many times, to the extent of him becoming roostery with it, and like legion5 said, he left the rig for over a month and then decided to jump at a different angle to usual. result = dead |

Friday, June 13, 2008 8:26:30 AM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtP6D7S5L...Here's a video of him doing what he did when he died. The sport uses TWO and not one rope for a purpose that I'm not sure of. Anyway, if the ropes look like a swing set, then it works perfectly every time, though it may hurt if you don't have the right swing to break your fall. On the other hand if the ropes do not look like a swing set then they start to "cut" eachother and you die. That's what happened to him, he left his rid in Yosemite national park for over a month and forgot the safe "jump angle", at least according to the official story. Some also say that he knew what he was doing but because the ropes had been exposed to rain they failed. |

Friday, June 13, 2008 7:40:19 AM That's not a chalk bag at his waist, it's a scrotum with a pair of big brass nuts inside. |

Friday, June 13, 2008 2:14:40 AM Hmm... after about halfway through, I thought to myself, I bet you he's climbed there hundreds of times. He's got to know every nook and cranny in that rock like the back of his hand to be able to do that that fast. |

Friday, June 13, 2008 12:50:44 AM I remember somebody commenting this video on youtube. The jump he does is called a dyno and the comment was "Damn, look at the dyno! i wonder how my tries it took him to perfect that" Naturally, my comment back was: "He failed his first two tries" |

Thursday, June 12, 2008 10:46:37 PM A 5.7 is a pretty easy climb. Any decently fit person could manage to climb that grade without prior experience. But to do a dyno at that height takes some serious balls. |

Thursday, June 12, 2008 10:38:39 PM Holy f-ck... that one jump was amazing! I could never do that if I tried. That was about one hundred feet per minute, yes? |

Thursday, June 12, 2008 10:18:01 PM He did a kind of bungee jump, but with climbing ropes, that are not elastic like bungee ropes. He would jump down and kind of swing. Then he did this crazy jump, landing in a small clearing in the middle of a forest full of sharp tree tops, and survived. A week or so later, he went back just him and a friend, to pick up his gear. He decided to jump again. The ropes were probably damaged by the rain, etc., and the rope snapped. His friend heard the usual noise of the rope stretching very fast. But then he heard a loud snap. And heard him scream through the radio.A stupid death. |
