Kikij, I have been stationed in the U.K. several times in my 20 years in the military. And I can say from my experience that the majority of Brits consider themselves more refined than Americans. I have been treated like CRAP in restaurants and pubs as soon as I opened my mouth and an American accent came out. It got to the point where if I was out of uniform and someone asked where I was from, I would tell them I was from Toronto so they would at least treat me like an equal. While I did meet many Brits who became friends and were always kind to me, I met just as many with bad attitudes who looked down on me not because they knew anything about me, but because of my accent... Like Eastenders have any business looking down on ANYONE.

There, I said it.

And kikij, judging from the way your football fans behave not just at home, but when attending matches in other countries... well... I think we've all seen British Football hooligans... I mean fans in action.

So that's what Cheese Rolling is... It might also explain the naming of Double Gloucester cheese.

So, another weird sport from Gloucester, I see. I wonder what the people are like down there?

Nothing like snobs, obviously. Or chavs, but there are, like, millions of chavs in our country. And one posh, non-royal guy, Raef from 'The Apprentice'.

Britishboy - SOME Americans make lame stereotypes, like I said, only the ignorant ones (we definitely have our share of morons over here).
Most of us Americans are pretty used to having people hate us, but what many people don't know is that most of us are pretty decent and likable folks.

"britishboy - Hell no! not anywhere I live and the upper classes literally do make up 1% of the population that wasn't an estimate that is an actual figure. You earls, dukes, lords, sirs etc - the proper upper classes."

I thought you were talking about middle class people lol.

There is nothing the British like better than a wee bit of violence before a nice pint of beer. It's the way we came to own 1/3 of the world. :D

"I absolutely knew that at least one American was going to call Britain rubbish and make a crap stereotype. I don't go on links about America and make burger jokes, and I expect the same from you guys."

looks like his post has been deleted. Whenever theres a post on something from a different country the Americans always make lame stereotypes. Then they get angry if somebody stereotypes them. BTW i don't hate American nor i don't hate any other nationality. Well i do hate people from Manchester....
