If it were a racist portrayal of a white dude (sniveling, nasally voice, hunched over the steering wheel with hands at 10 and 2, totally unable to dance, awkwardly polite even when slighted, basically everything black comedians say about us), then yeah, it would be racist. Would people be complaining about it as much? Probably not. Which is racist in of itself.But the main point it- it was taken from a very racist caricature of black people from back in the day. I'm not saying that the poster deserves to be shot or anything because of it, all I was doing was explaining HOW it was racist. I'm not offended by it, I was just saying why it is offensive in general. Also, I kind of wish it were longer, cause the beat's pretty catchy. |

@ esopillar - The argument still stands. What if it were a white guy? It doesn't necessarily have to be a white guy falling down a mountain, but what if it were a "racist" portrayal of a white guy?It's really not as racist as people think. Everyone's just been brainwashed to find racism in everything that has to do with a racial minority. |

Also, I don't really care that it's racist, honestly. I was just explaining why it's racist, for the people getting all hateful about "WHY'S IT GOT TO BE ABOUT RACE?"Honestly, this site confuses me. It can be ignorantly liberal sometimes, like with that girl with the 69 shirt (SHE CAN DO WHAT SHE WANTS! STOP BEING SUCH A PRUDE! 1ST AMENDMENT!!), then switches to conservative when issues of being fair to the races comes up. It's like many of the people can't decide what they believe, so they arbitrarily choose to be on the wrong side of the argument. |

To quote wikipedia, just cause it's convenient- "A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position". The racism argument was that the representation of the dude is racist, not the fact that it's a black guy falling down a mountain. They switched the argument to the fact that the guy was falling down the mountain. Sounds like a strawman to me.Also, something that vaguely looks like a swastika unintendedly doesn't equate to nazism- but an actual swastika, used as a swastika, does. Again, it has nothing to do with the guy falling down. If it were a guy with dark skin, in a suit or jersey, falling down, most people wouldn't say it's racist (there are still the people jumping to claim racism at anything, but I'll agree they are idiots). But if there were a flash with that same blackface character, with black skin and big red lips, just sitting around, it would still be racist. It's the character, not the action. |

First of all, @ esopillar - That's not a straw man argument. It's actually a perfectly valid question, as racism toward white people seems to be getting increasingly acceptable in recent years. Why should it matter if it looks like something that was meant to be racist? Does that mean if something I make looks vaguely like a swastika even though it was unintended, then I'm a Nazi? It just goes to show how people actually LOOK for racism in anything that uses a color other than white. Just don't actively search out racism, and then you'll only find it in things that are actually racist.Second of all, it's a neat little flash. Why do people get so offended at anything that might have to do with race anyway? What makes race so different from everything else? And please, no one give me that bullpoo about how race so and so was oppressed x number of years ago. EVERY race has faced oppression; get over it. |

Ah, why the need to bother with exclamations of racism in a simple animation? Red complements black is contrasted wonderfully by white; can't colors be chosen for purely aesthetic reasons anymore?
