Friday, June 13, 2008 10:25:48 AM i don't understand how they found out they were the last uncontacted tribe. there could be a few more in the world that we wouldn't know of, because they are uncontacted |

Wednesday, June 04, 2008 3:06:48 PM Scientist say alot of the cures for disease lie as yet undiscovered in the rainforest of the world. If these people are decendants from decades..possibly centuries of generations past, makes you wonder what they may know?! |

Monday, June 02, 2008 6:47:36 PM gatorade777: I'm pretty sure I never said I thought all men were sexist. (And I don't). I may have made a comment earlier implying that the society we live in was sexist as a whole, and guess what? It is, that's just the way it is.Also, I wasn't intentionally throwing around big words to sound smarter, that just happens to be the way I talk. Erm... write. (A year of writing essays in university does that to a person, so excuse me). |

Monday, June 02, 2008 1:37:03 PM After reading this message board, I think that the tribes people are likely more intelligent than the people on the internet. :P |

Sunday, June 01, 2008 6:16:25 PM When I read I thought it was "uncontracted" tribe. I immediately thought of how crazy it would be if there was an indian tribe without a casino. |

Sunday, June 01, 2008 3:49:52 PM I agree with thedudeman. Everyone is talking like they are animals when they are just humans like us. And asspenny has a point. Though it might be good in the short term to tell them about the outside world and give them medicine, that wouldn't last forever. And it would never be free. And for people saying we should send missionaries down there. No. There are already a ton of lost cultures and religions. We don't need anymore lost. And I would think that being in the wild and having on paint that makes you bright just screams "Stay away". |

Sunday, June 01, 2008 3:39:03 PM boadicea you are the sexiest one for generalizing all men as sexiest. Just because you have a problem with one male doesn't mean they are all like that. And using a lot of big vocab words doesn't make you see smarter or better at arguing it only points out that you care way to much about arguing with a stranger. |

Sunday, June 01, 2008 2:26:23 PM What's up with all the women gettin' pissed off? What's the shame in NOT hunting? Jesus Christ...In most tribes of brasillian indians women do not hunt. And I reckon if they did want to hunt no one would stop them. |

Sunday, June 01, 2008 2:20:58 PM There are at least 20 other isolated and unacounted for tribes in Brasil - those are the local specialists numbers. My uncle is an antrophologist. He was one of the first "white men" to get in touch with a tribe in Amazon. He lived with them for several years - learned their language, hunted, fished, did their drugs and took part in rituals. Knowing how their society worked eventually helped him to keep them away from people who wanted to take their land. |

Sunday, June 01, 2008 2:55:08 AM This shouldn't be a political debate, or sociological debate. These people have probably been vastly effected just by the helicopter passing over. (Which I think it was stupid to go back and take pictures.) That could have negative effects on their growth, and culture. If we go bursting in there, even just to open a connection, there will be influenced side effects. Sure, they will have access to more advanced capabilities, and like most tribes, they probably won't take it, but it seems more right to let their society come to its own fruition, and only intervene if they are in danger. Also, Humans, if you didn't know, ARE animals. We are no different, other than our technological and cognitive capabilities, we function just the same. |

Sunday, June 01, 2008 2:48:10 AM Holy crap, we are far from 'civilized'. And I'm sure these people are very civil, albeit pristine. (Pristine does not mean beautiful, or perfect. It means in it's original form, and unchanged.) I'm sure they respect each other, and are very happy living in harmony with nature. That being said, they do not NEED anything offered by modern society. And no, thelonious, they aren't keeping them isolated as an exhibit, but merely to respect their ways of life, presumably until they become advanced enough to discover our own society. They said they aren't disclosing their location. They are leaving them be, as they are obviously surviving just fine on their own. |
