Monday, May 19, 2008 8:57:38 PM i work in a restaurant.. so i heard about this a while back.. but seriously.. take a food safe course.. there is staph bacteria on just about everything.. and i would like you to hame 3 things in the world that dont have some sort of germ roostertail that can "potentially make you sick".. has it been a problem.. is that what caused the black plague? no.. so why do people make a big deal out of things that havent caused any problems in the last thousand years? |

Monday, May 19, 2008 7:43:09 PM Short answer, bacterial R.N.A integrates with cellular R.N.A, causing the production of more bacteria, in most cases. This bacteria causes a mutation of the host's R.N.A or D.N.A, which in turn causes the "programed cell death" response of the cell to deactivate. The D.N.A continues to mutate and reproduce until a tumor is formed. This is how most cancer is caused, external (or internal) factors causing a mutation in the D.N.A of a cell and the over reproduction of said cell. I don't remember the name of the particular bacteria, just what the lab tech. that helped me said, sorry. |

Monday, May 19, 2008 4:58:15 PM According to webster's, Faecal is an adjective while fecal is a noun. For example: "There's corn in my fecal matter!" as opposed to "That corn is faecal!" |

Monday, May 19, 2008 4:36:24 PM I might be being retarded here, or it could be an American thing, but isn't it 'faecal' matter (feesel) rather than 'fecal' (feekal)...that annoyed me the whole way through! Either way, I'm not that fussed, I'll still have lemon. |

Monday, May 19, 2008 4:29:19 PM Why are they singling out lemons? I mean, if the bacteria is on the employee's hands, bacteria is going to be on everything he touches, not just the lemons. If the bacteria is coming from the knife, or the prep surface, all the other food would be affected also. Basically, bacteria is everywhere, and thinking you are avoiding it by choosing not to have a lemon wedge is foolish. There is probably even more bacteria on the ice. We eat crap everyday. No news here, people. Move along. |

Monday, May 19, 2008 2:16:29 PM Here's a little fact: 40% of all fecal matter released is composed of the "life-necessary" bacteria currently thriving in your intestines. In truth, 23 of the 25 species they found on the lemons are LIKELY (not saying I know for sure) to be found on any common surface. I did a project similar to this, but on the menus. Unlike the lemons, menus rarely get wiped down or washed before use. I found a responsible for BONE CANCER at a prominent chain restaurant! Thats scary, not a little poo on your lemon. |

Monday, May 19, 2008 1:11:11 PM 77% have disease causing bacteria? so why isnt 77% of america in a state of perpetual illness? oh, right. because most of america has developed immunities to it.it might cause a 3 year old to get sick, but an average adult, who is exposed to (and builds immunities against) all kinds of bacteria for 20+ years..? i, for one, will still have a slice of lemon with my tea, thankyouverymuch. |
