Thursday, May 08, 2008 6:54:25 PM i honestly think its a good idea. especially for kids in school or college. think about how many kids get their ipod stolen. you would freaking care if some one stole your 300 dollar piece of equipment. |

Wednesday, May 07, 2008 1:41:10 PM I just put it on my Ipod. i dont think the whole GPS thing will work but you can put a message that says that its your ipod and list your home address. That way if you leave it on a plane and someone finds it they could get in touch with you and send it back to you if they arent tools. |

Wednesday, May 07, 2008 11:42:01 AM i think the program assumes that ur ipod will most likely bestolen by just some guy in ur school...not some hacker that steals ipods for a livingthe normal moron who steals ur ipod probly wont have the forsite to disconnect his computer and uninstall software though if ipod encrypts your music so u can only play itunes songs on an ipod...they should encrypt ur ipod so it needs a password or something if it plugs into a new computer

Wednesday, May 07, 2008 9:06:07 AM I like the idea. Lazyme - uninstall it how? On my sisters (stolen now) ipod, you couldn't even delete pictures without it being plugged into a computer. But yes, if you loose your iPod, leave it on the plane, just drop it and don't realise, if someone picks it up and takes it to there house, it is, by law, considered theft, only because they didn't report it to the police. Green - A message will pop up onto your computer and the computer you're using, as you know it's not stolen, you ignore it. But yeah, with Vista and all that out, which if anything happens, it will alert the user beforehand, that may be a problem, but as vista is still not used much and quite unpopular, there isn't much chance of that happening. Lazy - Whos privacy is it invading? The person who owns it? Nope, they get told where it is. The person who stole it? Yes, but no one cares, they were breaking the law, they shouldn't have taken it. Wednesday, May 07, 2008 7:37:15 AM Sounds like a hacking tool to me. This iHound is a bull5hit idea and it WILL be shut down due to privacy violation.Anyway what's to stop me from just uninstalling iHound from the iPod before I plug it in? |

Wednesday, May 07, 2008 7:01:14 AM I'm not sure if it would work for the ipod touch or iphone, they both aren't recognized as external hard drives on computers unless they're jailbroken (and they said it only works because it's recognized as that?), and once you jailbrake it it's out of warranty and...i don't think apple would care if you lost it or not! but....i don't know =] great idea non-the-less! |

Wednesday, May 07, 2008 6:44:54 AM Evry person i know has had their ipod stolen, the white headphones are a dead givaway. now using an IRIVER and proud of it, (iriver is a korean brand that was developing mp3 players when ipod was first realeased), The "I" (asin; iphone, imac, ipod) was around at the time and apple took it onboard [to great overuse]. Plays my mp3's without bloody itunes and works as a decent hardrive, Sad about being robbed, happy about getting a superior product ^_^/ |

Wednesday, May 07, 2008 5:43:35 AM I was just going to say that teph. Not only will you buy a new one, but I think iPod forces the new user to wipe the old music and download/buy more music that is theirs...of course that is if they hook it up to their computer. But imagine that you steal an iPod. chances are out of the 2000 hours of music, there is something on there you might like. |

Wednesday, May 07, 2008 3:22:12 AM Maybe it's a pure crap...maybe it's not good enough...and maybe there's a way around...but at least there is a way and a hope for people who lost it or got it stolen to recover their Ipod that cost almost as much as a laptop ( asus ee pc?)..so stop critising this dude for doing something great...a bad system is better than nothing...and btw...not all thieves are clever/geniuses... |

Wednesday, May 07, 2008 2:49:58 AM Oh man, I just started laughing when I watched this. "When the criminal plugs in the Ipod, we flash a message and send their IP address, the name of the computer, and the name of the user to our server which then alerts you with the approximate GPS location based off the IP address." Oh, really? Anybody who stole an Ipod and is about to put it into the computer would probably think twice about doing so in fear that something bad might happen anyways. That's why you unplug your internet connection. Sure, flash your stupid message! What are you going to do? Create a background file that will be sent after you connect again? People with Vista will stop it through UAC (Sucks!) and people with XP are likely to notice the new file anyway. Am I the only person whose antivirus software tells me when a single hardware / software change takes place? This iHound is pure crap! |

Wednesday, May 07, 2008 12:10:47 AM So what happens if you install this software and then have to plug your iPod into another computer to offload files e.g school or work? Do you then get alerted that you're a criminal for plugging in your own ipod somewhere? |
