Friday, April 25, 2008 2:17:44 AM ...99.9% of [IAB's] submissions appear on Digg first. In fact, in recent months this has become an even more frequent. I can't remember the last *good* IAB link that I didn't see on Digg a few days before. It seems to me that Fancylad (IAB's owner?) just uses Digg now to find good links.Look, I'm an old-time IAB fan. I've been visiting this site for years. It used to have a ton of potential. But recently it has become nothing more than a pirate, an idiotic joke of a link-dump site. I'm hoping this will change. I'm hoping IAB will return to its former potential. But when all it can do is rip off material made by other sites, my hopes diminish. /rant |

Friday, April 25, 2008 2:06:21 AM Last thought. If it really is okay to "shar[e]... what people find great" by reposting another person's work without permission and making money by doing so, then maybe I should start a site called "I Am Bored 2". I'll simply repost whatever IAB posts. I'll even make my site look the same, and I'll outdo IAB by making my vid-rips decent in quality. I'm sure the IAB creator/owner (FancyLad?) will be fine with that because I'll make sure to include a blurry little IAB URL at the beginning of any picture/video/article I rip off from them. That blurry link will generate *huge* traffic for IAB, I'm sure. Lol!IAB used to be a lot better than this. Like many sites, it got greedy and stupid. The sad thing is that IAB could have been Digg if its owner(s?) hadn't become such a douchebag(s?). And let's see, which site makes more money: IAB or Digg? Hmmm...! IAB is like the RIAA. It's greedy but some of its content is good. 99.9% of their submissions show up on Digg fir |

Friday, April 25, 2008 1:50:21 AM KoalaMeatPie: "Just about every video can be traced back to it's orignal source material, Like with this ZP Video, embeded inside is the website."Koala, you obviously don't understand what generates revenue for a site. Sites like the Escapist (and IAB, btw) get money through *advertising*. And they make more money through advertising when they get more web-traffic. When a site like IAB rips another site's content (i.e. you're watching another site's content in IAB's pooty little flash player, next to a huge advertisement that only makes money for IAB) you're not helping the content's producer make money. You're only helping IAB. And that's bullpoo. If IAB went to the Escapist and asked permission to do this, that would be fine (if permission was given). If IAB used an embed code (some sites provide this) that would be fine. But ripping and reposting is total poo. It's stealing, it's wrong, and it's pathetic (and it's why Digg is so much better). |

Thursday, April 24, 2008 1:31:16 PM "This is the most annoying, worst, and LEAST ACCURATE review of any game I've ever seen! Nintendo haters are some of the lowest quality human beings in existence." And personally I think Nintendo fan boys can shove that kinda crap up their arse til it bleeds. If your balls have dropped, don't buy a nintendo. |

Thursday, April 24, 2008 1:15:31 PM also, im under the impression that anyone who hates Wii or Nintendo is just an elitist PS/Xbox fan. just because Mario Galaxy doesn't involve realistic war combat does NOT mean its a bad game. just because the Zelda games are suitable for children does not make them immature.

Thursday, April 24, 2008 9:53:05 AM jmk4422 - you obviously don'T understand how IAB works.Just about every video can be traced back to it's orignal source material, Like with this ZP Video, embeded inside is the website. Those that are new and interested in the material can follow up and discover new things. It's a giant sharing side of what people find great, getting others intrested in it. Otherwise, if it's a news article or just a stand alone thing, such as the Gregorian UAV, it does not need a host, it's fact, sharing intresting news, not a Click of fad. IAB is a dump site, get used to it or shut up and get out.

Thursday, April 24, 2008 8:59:30 AM Now this is a great example of what's wrong with IAB. Ripping this video from Escapist is incredibly popular, and the creator of Zero Punctuation is on record saying how much such rips hurt him financially. We're not talking about a big corporation here, or some random network-TV clip (where fair usage might apply). We're talking about a smalltime guy getting screwed because sites like IAB feel it's their right to rip-off another person's work for their own site's gain.Stop it, IAB. Provide links to the original material; embed using their code if provided, etc. But STOP ripping other people's work to show it here using your crappy, low-quality flash player. |
