Wednesday, April 16, 2008 7:31:29 PM Wow...I'm not sure if I enjoyed the post more, or the comments that came after it? Everything people set their minds to as far as a religion goes is their belief. Atheists believe that there's no reason for God or gods. Monotheists believe God is all around us, polytheists believe there are gods all around us. Scientologists don't believe in any sort of deity, and instead believe the spirits of billions upon billions of aliens were imprisoned on earth and driven insane, which some people might find odd. What I find most odd about scientology is how it changes people for the worse. The way faith can cause a person to ignore their own health is shocking...but people will do anything these days. |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 1:17:01 PM "catbarf: The beliefs of Scientology are a bad science fiction story. That isn't more sound than the beliefs of other religions. "Let's see: Scientology: There are the spirits of aliens in you. That's why people are intelligent, and not like animals. Christianity: There's a cosmic Jewish zombie who was his own father who will, if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically accept him as your lord and master, remove an evil force present in humanity because a woman created from a guy's rib bone ate an apple because a talking snake told her to. There's quite a difference. |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 8:40:03 AM @ Baby Bear - OT levels are different levels of being cured/knowledge or whatever. You pay obscene amounts of money to raise your OT level through audits and such.A 'clear' is a certain level that is supposed to be basically 'cured' |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 8:34:04 AM Seems everybody in this board is an atheist, and thinks anyone who is not is an 'idiot'. Now, scientology is a farce - but whats with all the non-atheist bashing? |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 6:01:09 AM To those who say they never heard of Jason Beghe, he has been in lots of stuff. He was the quarterback in the HBO series First and Ten, and starred along with Delta Burke. He starred in another series called "To Have and to Hold" which was cancelled after one season even though it had great reviews from those in the industry. Also had a recurring roles on Melrose Place and Picket Fences. I always thought he was a damn good actor and hope to see him doing more in the future. Hopefully Hollywood hasn't been taken over by the Scientologist so much that he won't be blacklisted. I'd much rather pay to see him than that freak Tom Cruise. |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 5:49:04 AM Scientology is just another corrupted 'religion'....hence...Why I only practice a personal religion in my heart, not in a church. "The point of Christianity is to love God and love those around you and treat them with respect. That is is a point that even many Christians miss, but that is not that fault of God or 'Christianity'." That is exactly right, MafSotL. Thanks for showing us here on IAB that brain cells have a lot of potential, as you have demonstrated. Thanks =) |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 5:22:52 AM demonclown... congrats on missing the entire point of most religions, including Christianity. When Jesus was asked what the most important commandment was he replied 'love your God with all your heart and soul... love your neighbor as yourself.' now, correct me if I am wrong, but he said nothing about saying 'drat'. The point of Christianity is to love God and love those around you and treat them with respect. That is is a point that even many Christians miss, but that is not that fault of God or 'Christianity'. It is people being human and making stupid |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 4:41:10 AM catbarf: The beliefs of Scientology are a bad science fiction story. That isn't more sound than the beliefs of other religions. Their practices aren't more logical, either, and the only reason they haven't started holy wars yet is because they don't have enough power to do so and they can gain power more efficiently in the way they are already doing. It's more dangerous than other religions (assuming you see it as a religion, which I don't) because it's more controlling and more power-seeking. |
