Saturday, September 29, 2007 4:35:04 PM pilitup, don't be so naive. He was clearly stating there is no such thing as homosexuals to cover up the actions of his government. Read this statement and see the similar connotations:"We do not have Nuclear Bombs in our couyntry. We do not know what these 'Nuclear bombs' are, we have not heard of them" |

Friday, September 28, 2007 12:50:40 AM Actually, there are no homosexuals in Iran. AND there are weapons of mass distruction in Iraq. AND Clinton did not have sexual relations with that woman. AND Mr. George Bush (Sr.) did not give us any new taxes. |

Thursday, September 27, 2007 11:32:46 PM I don't mean to say that homosexuality is "perverse in nature" I'm just commenting on Whitemn's comment on "sex scandals" that we hear about in the priesthood. (And most missionaries are not in the priesthood, anyway.) |

Thursday, September 27, 2007 11:29:24 PM I should also mention that most missionaries are usually family groups, where sex scandals are less common than say with celibate priests. |

Thursday, September 27, 2007 11:27:26 PM "Im sure iran has Christian missionary's. Where priests are, theirs sex scandels of all kinds."You know, the percentage of sex scandals amongst priests is about the same as the percentage of sex scandals amongst non-priests. The reason why we hear about it more with priests is that priests are community leaders and the church is supposed to uphold certain values. I'm not complaining about the publicity the sex scandals and cover-ups in the church gets, in my opinion priests and the church SHOULD be held more accountable than most people given the amount of influence they wield over people, but it just annoys me when people make comments about priests being commonly perverse in nature. |

Thursday, September 27, 2007 9:55:42 PM Eh. Not really fond of him, but there are worse people in the world. Plus, he's more of a figure head than an actual leader. Ali Khamenei is more in charge than he is. Plus, I think it's rather attractive... not that this makes him any better of a person. And lastly, I agree, I don't think he meant there are absolutely no gays in Iran. He probably meant there are few out-of-the-closet gays... and mostly because they are terrified. |

Thursday, September 27, 2007 6:24:01 PM why does it matter im not gay but why do some people care that some people are gay. Just because they dont like the same type of people you like, doesnt mean they should be punished for it. how is that any of your business. thats like people shouting out to the world that you like some guy or girl that they dont like and you get punished for it |

Thursday, September 27, 2007 3:09:51 PM actually, he may be telling the truth- pakistan is in a similar situation, there are actually NO HOMOSEXUALS there, maybe 1 in every 1000, people havent even heard of them, however there are ALOT of transvestites, at least 3 or 4 in every street, which is probably more than the number of gays you get here |

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 11:06:29 PM PontaFanta" "I'm so proud of myself, I actually understood parts of what he was saying. like "mohdar" in the beginning means mother...."Sorry to burst your bubble sweetheart. You are pretty close, because "mother" in Farsi is "maadar" The President is starting his speech with "ma dar" which are two separate words (but pronounced somewhat similarly) that mean "we" and "in". He says: "Ma dar Iran...", which means, "In Iran, we..." |

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 10:22:29 PM hardcoredood....i couldn't agree with you more. When a nation or at least their government has a stone age mentality, it is a very scary thought that they may one day have nuclear weapons. Sadly Iran's President really is a nut. I truly believe that he was allowed into the US to do his speech at Columbia University and also at the United Nations so the rest of the world would see how nutty he is, just in case there was any question. |

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 9:47:50 PM Ponder this. This man may very well believe there are no homo's in his country, as we once did in our rise as a culture. So one may say his culture is different, and we should not impose and let them grow as a people, and that view is respectable in some cases. However, in this case, we are allowing a man who refuses to believe in homosexuality to obtain nuclear weapons. I do not trust a man who does not have enough ability to reason, to know there are homosexuals in his country. I you refuse to believe there are homosexuals you are being controlled by something and your mind is not free. I would not trust our culture 300 years ago with nuclear weapons. I' not saying their 300 years "inferior" in any way, just that i don't trust a person who dosn't think there are homo's in his country to have nucelar weapons at his disposal. Someone please tell me this guy isn't really so lost. |

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 9:19:50 PM Being Gay is just nature's way of keeping the population down, there is nothing wrong with it, if you have a problem with people who are gay you should also have a problem with people who have cancer. |

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 8:44:03 PM manorrd:You are correct about the root of the word Islam, however, "Salam" also falls under this 3-letter root (S, L, M), which means "Peace". They are all ultimately related words. Also, my comparison with the Crusades is justified: The Crusades originally had the goal of recapturing Jerusalem and the sacred "Holy Land" from Muslim rule. It was a war waged by one religion on another because of a lack of tolerance, and the situation is very similar right now. The Islamic Fundamentalists are waging a holy war against the "Infidels" due to their lack of tolerance. And I am glad that there are some people who understand that the only thing ordinary Muslims want is peace as well... |
