Sunday, November 06, 2005 2:20:44 AM Oh yeah, also it's not a subway, the subway lines generally run cross-town, and with the exception of the Ginza line are never that packed. The commuter trains that run into the city center from the outlying areas are the ones that are packed. |

Sunday, November 06, 2005 2:17:29 AM That's the Keio Inokashira line, and it's always packed like that. Tokyo has an incredible population density. Not all train lines are as packed as that one. The JR Saikyo line is particularly bad in the mornings and evenings. Cars are not an option. I don't own a car here and honestly can't really fathom any reason I would need to. A parking space alone would be prohibitively expensive. They're not police, those are the staff that work for the Keio train company. I would liken an extremely packed train to sitting in traffic on a crowded freeway for an hour on your way to work. I personally prefer to just get crammed into a train for 10 minutes or so, but I can understand that some people truly value personal space. |

Tuesday, November 01, 2005 11:02:43 PM obviously you people have never lived in japan, this isnt even the *begining* of what goes on there that is consittered "normal", in the military if you move around, you will see quite a bit (I was stationed in okinawa, not japan, i took a leave there several times, and before rejoining lived there for a while, for all of you people that know post world war ii japanese history), alot of you people would probably pass out from the culture shock, it's just crazy what these people do. |

Tuesday, November 01, 2005 5:55:50 PM Japanese have alot of honor and respect, when i went to visit tokyo i didnt know where to go or what to do in the city. When i went to the subway i tried asking one of the attendants that worked there on how to get to the place i needed to go. He didnt speak englsih so he spent like 10 minutes trying to find someone he knew that spoke engligh. Luckly he called his friend on the cell phone and put me on with him. i managed to find the place with no stress what so ever. try to find service like that in america without them getting pissed off at you. |

No, actually no it's not. It's not THAT bad here. I think there's more people in Japan compared to NYC. |
