I dig the first image, the going out of business store. That's an old scammy advert, even spoof'd in the Ben Stiller movie, Zohan.
My friend lived in a railroad apartment in Greenwich during the mid 00's. Im sure the apartment has been renovated by now, but she lived with the bathtub in the living room / kitchen. It was the strangest place I'd seen since she lived with her two roommates. You would have to walk through their bedrooms to reach her bedroom, so no privacy there.
I think they paid $2200 in rent for the place back in the 00's, I imagine the place is even more expensive or a single occupant condo renovation.
9-11 killed NYC, after the disaster the nightlife ended. Bands couldnt get Visas to perform and live music just died. I miss the earlier NYC before 9-11.

Stuff like this I can look at all day long,
Love history, and seeing 'life' back then
and Listening to my old dear (75) and her friends,
about sleeping in air raid shelters, and playing in bomb sites, and finding bits of people while they play
and they say it like it was an everyday thing, which I guess back then it was

Fantastic photos, ferdy. And very good quality, too.
Having been born into 1950's New York City, I can never get enough of this. My family's first apartment was in downtown Manhattan (Greenwich Village), where the kitchens had bathtubs in them and there was a communal bathroom for each floor. The building was packed with fellow Italian immigrants and the rent was a whopping $24 a month. I can't imagine the astronomical sum it would go for today.
Don't care for what's happened to this once great city, but photos of "older" NYC are always welcome.
