Atlatl is fun to say.

Say it like 10 times in a row.

Argus, you are missing a digit there. There things are much older than the aboriginals. Older than humans even. These were first made by homo heildelbergesis

@RobSwindol
We are talking longbow... not stoneage bow.
Its like comparing the manuverability of a rowboat compared to a submarine, the gap in time and tech is not compareble.

Lots of misinformation here.

Geoff, a properly made atlatl can be aimed with some accuracy in properly trained hands.

The gentleman in the video claims that the atlatl has more knock-down power than a bow and arrow. That's simply not the case.

While the dart my be heavier, it's traveling much, much slower than an arrow from a longbow. Mass X speed = force. And the added speed of the bow and arrow more than makes up for the mass that it lacks.

Case in point, it's been proven time and time again that an arrow can be shot through armor using a rustic longbow. However, let's look at how the atlatl performs against the same, low-grade armor.

Atlatl vs. Armor

Actually it's a woomera, 18000 years old and Australian aboriginal. It's now been proven with DNA that that the Australian aboriginal was the first settler in South America, thousands of years before the mongoliod races came down from the north.

I have launched one of these. It was made by my old social studies professor in high school.

You can not aim this contraption.

It is worth a penny that shouldn't circulate the American currency system.

"They could have shown how much farther it goes than throwing a spear."
It would have revealed his girly arm.

Most atlatl users are legitimate bison hunters. You would be leaving them without a means to take down bison and without a means to defend themselves against criminals who get their atlatl from other sources.

I demand common sense steps be made for atlatl control. Surely we don't want these weapons to end up in the hands of criminals?

@Avatar, newp sorry "well regulated" means "in good working order", not regulated in a legal sense, otherwise why would they put "shall not be infringed" (Funny how certain people always conveniently leave *that* out?) on the end?

People always conveniently omit the term, "well regulated" when talking about these sticks. Really, they should only be allowed for "militia's".
