To all you "enlightened" holier-that-thou Europeans, the next time someone breaks into your house, hit him with a book.

@boreddaddy: naw, just California Liberal Democrats.

Lots of books are banned though, it's really amazing. But no one cares anymore.

@CreamK: You thinks little kids should read books filled with VIOLENCE, MURDER and ALCOHOL?
What kind of FREAK are you???

No one advocates little kids taking guns to school. That's a Strawman. Which makes the "argument" presented here phoney-liberal-baloney.

Holy poo !! The federal government has banned books? Does this mean I can't buy this book anymore? Have they started requiring us to register these books? Is it a felony to own a copy of this book? I sure am glad I've already stocked up on "books".

The one who can't see what the hell is wrong in those pictures need to take a deep hard look at your values. If you don't get it, think about this: american movies get rated to more mature audiences if it has boobs but has no problem depicting violence. One of those things is wonderful and the other is sick. Which one?

This is an argument for LESS liberal bullship in schools and MORE parent involvement.

Srsly...

The idiocy is that the governing "I know better what you need, than you" body forces these changes based on a scant minority of idiots. Instilling fear of guns. They are tools, books are also tools. Kids need actual parents involved their lives who guide and ground them in reality.

is this trying to say ban guns or un-ban little red riding hood? because if you're using the logic that, "well little red riding hood is banned, so should guns be" then you're a retard.

To be fair I would rather be attacked by a book, than a gun... just a thought

If every teacher in every class had a gun like that and were trained to use it properly school shootings would be successful.

jaysingrimm -

How does europe have any right to care? Your statement of USA owning half the guns in the world is referring to privately owned guns. How does private ownership affect europe? It doesn't.

You can call it paranoid to worry about the guvment, but history shows different.
Yea, you are right...it would be hard to stop a drone with a AK47.
If the American government were to overstep it's bounds, it's the boys in blue, not the ones in cammo that will enforce tyranny.

Lastly, we haven't changed the definition of "assault weapons". You have. That weapon shown in the picture isn't an assault riffle. It's no different than my Mini 14, which shoots the same round. They are both semi auto. One is scary black, and the other looks like the gun my grandpa goes hunting with. They both do the same exact thing, yet no one has ever called the mini 14 an "assault riffle" and no one has suggested banning it specifically.

So to recap, the US has banned Kinder Eggs because of stupid people, but won't tighten gun control for the same reason?

As for why Europe cares, maybe it's because they're a little nervous...The US does own roughly half of all the worlds guns.

And if your having trouble seeing an assault rifle in the picture, maybe it's because the US was the ONLY country in the WORLD to change the definition of one...

Listypoos- you took it waaaaay too far when you banned Kinder eggs.

Kinder eggs were banned for two specific reasons:
Stupid People.
Overly Litigious Lawyers.

I agree, not a good example. Making a comparison like this is as weak an argument as when the pro gun side compares statistics to drinking and driving.

Personally, like most advocating stricter gun control, I don't think all guns should be banned, but better regulated. Better training and testing (maybe a psych. eval.?). Everything licensed, everywhere. I support a properly regulated militia, run by the local community but with oversight. Who knows where that could even lead over time...better trained and equipped part time/volunteer police? That's probably a better way to fight crime than a bunch of poorly trained, sometimes unlicensed John MClane's running around. In the very least there would be a properly trained militia. What really surprises me is that some seem to resist the idea based on some sort of paranoid speculation about the "guv'mnt". Would you alone armed with an AK-47 stop a drone anyhow?

actually, both of these are not allowed to be in children's hands, and both of these are allowed to be in adult's hands. This is stupid.

I wonder if the two districts that banned LRRH were liberal or conservative?

More anti gunner lies you make the best case against yourselves!

Why do you care anyways, europe?

They think they know what's best for everyone which is pretty much how they started two world wars....

Little Red Riding Hood isn't banned in America.

It may not be allowed in school library's, but neither are AR-15's.
This is misleading. No, it's an outright lie.

Americans don't want firearms ban. Even if you could get a complete firarms ban on the books, it would be impossible to enforce. Not hard, but impossible...without starting a 2nd civil war...or maybe it would be a 2nd revolutionary war.

Why do you care anyways, europe?
