Aww, look how proud baldy is. Finally, he has a ball. Maybe next week, he can knock over an old lady, to give himself a pair.

The dad should have confronted the guy, but physical violence is out of the question with his kids (and everyone else) sitting right there.

Honestly, I'm kinda surprised the player didn't snatch the ball back and give it to the kid. It was as much an insult to the player as to the kid.

Why does that seem so iconically representative of conservative economic plans?

@madduck: If it's hit off a bat (foul ball usually) then whoever catches it can keep it.

90% of the time, if a player tosses a ball? It's towards a kid. The rule is: give it to the kid! Even if he/she drops it, you can pick it up, but then hand it over.

Of course it's not a law or anything, but few baseball fans will break it.

I have no idea about ettiquette for balls- cricket balls are not kept by spectators. However- it's a ball- who else would WANT it, or idea be so asinine to take it from a child!!

I hope he's explaining that he just want a picture with it and he'll give it to the kid, that wouldn't be too bad. Still a jerk-move for sure though.
It looks like he says something, and the kid's dad is a big fellow, he doesn't get mad about it.

Even the baseball player is like, "Really?" The dad shakes his head back as if to say, "I KNOW, right?!"

I can't imagine the player would let that go. No point in getting into it with the jerk, he will get his in due time.

Thoughtless, inconsiderate, effing a55h*le! I hope all his friends watching on tv tell him so, too. I especially hope someone on the team made sure the kid got a ball.

@madduck i dont like the looks of those dots at the end of your comment. not all baseballs should go to children, almost all baseballs at baseball games are up for grabs by anyone, its just the baseballs that are intended and thrown directly at kids i think should go to the kids. i had to change balls to baseballs because all this talk of kids grabbing balls was getting weird.

@denogginizer whats he supposed to do? ill tell you what i would do, i would kick the poo out of that non-nice individual. and i bet you thats exactly what the father is thinking, that he should kick the poo out of that non-nice individual. but he has two kids right there. kicking the poo out of him would be the wrong thing to do. the smart, polite thing to do would be to at least ask him if he would give the ball to the kid the player intended. but when youre upset and pissed off, rational thoughts rarely pass through your mind.

Way to go, Timid Dad. You should have politely asked for the ball before beating the snatcher down into a boneless bloody pulp.

They are indeed jerks- no excuses at all. All balls should go to children...
