piperfawn, you obviously don't know much, especially about the Cold War. The Russians have a habit of casting aside defectors once their value has been used up. His life is in far more danger with the Russians than anywhere.

So while you guys are speculating about potential authoritarianism here, Snowden actually is in fascist countries, helping their fascist intelligence services. Just fyi.

He's a self-obsessed guy who just wants to be famous. Read anything he's ever said, he thinks "this will make me cool".

His whole deal is about NSA snooping on Americans, but he keeps revealing spying on foreigners, as though that's an "American thing". Guess what, Sweden does it. Switzerland does it. France, UK. All the high horse countries that are "outraged" spy on foreigners. It's called "Intelligence", and even Merkel does it. It's an entirely different issue than domestic snooping.

Frack, China does it worse than anyone, but literally nobody gives a shiite that the actual fascist state of China is doing all of this because they only care about the potentially maybe-someday-hypothetical fascist state of America. With that in mind, Snowden's first choice of asylum is China, and then Russia.

lauriloo "there are much more legit ways to do it" can you tell us some example? What he have done was the only choice since his life was in danger. I don't think he really had so much ways to do what he have done. One of the way way you suggest was to be kidnaped from some of your "secret agency",take a bullet in the head and being burned in the middle of some desert?

I'm glad that there are now discussions about how the NSA does their business but I really hate how Snowden did it. If he wanted to be a whistleblower for honest reasons there are much more legit ways to do it that don't put people's lives at risk.

What on earth are you talking about now McGovern1981?

Humans are humans - where ever they reside - to a lot of people here in Europe.

@ C_Frost - companies aren't listening in on your phone conversations. There's a difference .

I still fail to see why people are so upset about what the government is doing, this is information we willing give away to everyone. companies have been collecting and analyzing our information for decades

since they are spying on us why do i have to fill out a phone book thick ream of forms to get anything done with them? cant they just look at their data? "Oh it's her,... hmmm... yeah she doesn't qualify but dont tell her for three months, then two months later tell her she needs to get her preschool's principle's current phone number and his wife's maiden name to refile."

Of course he did the world a favor.
Well, the world minus the USA.

Hi Gerry,
he definitely is a hero.

Rumors are going that Luxemburg is going to give him asyl.

Now Mr. Snowden, please tell us how you justify stealing and sellling the other 2000 top secret documents you took with you to Russia when you fled your own country after betraying it.

Oh, and the 6 lap tops in your luggage that were filled with top secret files and info.... who did you sell those to?

And some people think this guy is a hero ?
Not how I define 'hero' he aint.
