@ Emmettyville: I agree with you on this. What this video shows is how far the U.S. has descended down the path of being a police state. As an American, I can tell you *exactly* why the people standing around did nothing: They feared that one or more police cars would shortly arrive on scene and anyone interfering with the officer's beating of the man would be beaten, pepper-sprayed, or tazed.

In many areas, the U.S. police are now armed like the U.S. military and behave like an occupying force. Occasionally I'll see a video of police in the U.K., New Zealand, or France and I'll see officers joking around with and socializing with the citizens they "protect and serve." The videos look odd to me because it's exceedingly rare that an American cop will interact with the American public that way. More often than not, it's military swagger or stand-offishness we see--and seldom anything even resembling friendliness.

The worst thing about this is that they all stand around and wtach it happen. Pretty soon it will be, "oooo s hit that guy just got shot in the head cause he called that cop stupid, but that's ok, cause we got it on camera." GETTING IT ON CAMERA IS NOT GOING TO HELP ANYONE. Do something to stop the insanity, or you're f ucking next.

@ Danagamer: "...you can see the 'cop' has no real uniform...."

He's got a police shirt with a patch on the shoulder, epaulets, and a silver badge in front (see 2:01-2:02); on the belt he's got a Glock on one side, a collapsing baton on the other, pepper spray, and a cuff case; and below that he's wearing what look to be department-issued black tactical trousers.

What'd you say again about "no real uniform"?

This is like 4 years ago and was proven fake. They staged it, you can see the 'cop' has no real uniform and the 'victim' was always off-camera when hit.

I think citizens must be entitled to chase and enflate cops like that with punch and kicks if they witness such behaviours. And get a prize as good citizens too.

Dont care if he told the cop to shut up, this is an unwarranted beating. This cop needs to experience what happens when 3-4 of this guys buddies puts a beating on him.

I don't know about in the US, but in the UK everyone has powers of arrest for crimes which CAN result in prosecution (i.e. ABH or GBH (which this cop is doing to the person) - This is why a shop can grab you and lock you in a store-room for an hour or so for theft). There is no excuse for being told 'shut up' to end up like this.

And everyone just standing by? Police are not above the law.

How many times has he done this without a camera catching it? How many of his "Brothers in Blue" do the same?
