Technically, it wasn't a goal as it didn't go between the goal posts. The fact that it ended up in the back of the net, is quite strange. The side netting must have been hit with sufficient force that it opened up enough for the ball to slip through. Weird, and something that happens once in a few hundred thousand!

Did the player actually go to the ref and say it didn't count? He should win the "Player Of The Year" award for that!
How on Earth did it get inside the goal? They're supposed to check those nets before every game!
