Yeah, well you would want us to believe that, wouldn't you?

Little green men? Maybe. Micro-bacterial life, more likely.

HolyGod, "Why"

I don't believe in things with no proof. I don't believe in ghosts. I don't believe in a supernatural all-knowing/all-seeing deity. I don't believe extra terrestrials visited earth.

UFOology is just a religion for atheists. Just another superstition. They choose to believe it without proof and then come up with lame reasons why their vision is the only true perspective.

Somewhere out in the big wide universe, is a planet orbiting a sun similar to ours, with a tiny minority of it's population, (who should really be doing something productive), sitting in front of a computer screen arguing the toss about extra-planetary life.
Some of them swear that it is not possible and deride the opinions of the rest, because it does not fit in with their childhood-indoctrination.
This happened 10 earth-years ago, or maybe in 10 earth-years time.
The aforementioned planet will never contact our planet, because it's too expensive and they are undergoing a financial hiatus, and it's too far away anyhow.

Hawkins statement that they are hostile is absurd. If they were a threat we probably wouldn't be here discussing it.

Just like belief in a god, unless there is sufficient evidence, belief in aliens is equally foolish.

There's "UFO" and then there's "ETI" which is Extra Terrestrial Intelligence. Space aliens!

Most of these examples follow the title of belief in ETI, although a few are just UFO observations.

UFOs can have many possible (but currently unknown) explanations. ETI means Aliens! Chances are really high THEY will visit US before we can go visit them

Or perhaps it's just impossible? Only time will tell.

"However I do not believe they are visiting this planet. Now or ever."

Why?

We look for extraterrestrials and send things to different planets. You don't think other life forms would have a similar curiosity?

Don't you think they be much farther along in the process given a hundred year, thousand year, or billion year head start?

Of course I believe in extra-terrestrials. Statistically they are very likely to exist. However I do not believe they are visiting this planet. Now or ever.

@HolyGod.. I am not saying that there isn't advanced life out there, however them finding us is like a needle in a haystack. Yes maybe they do have some mechanism for finding life on other planets that I don't understand or know about, hence why I am not completely dismissing the idea.

If you took a poll of I-A-B members, I think you' find a lot of people who have seen strange or bizarre things in the sky. What these things actually are is another story, and often the answer is a mundane one. But the fact is that many people see objects that are not familiar or easily identifiable. It's not uncommon.

"even if we did the chances that life on that planet being more intelligent as we are has very low odds."

The earth is 4.5 billion years old.
The universe is 13.8 billion years old.
That means there may be planets that are 9 BILLION YEARS ahead of us in evolution.

Look how far we have come in 10,000 years.

I'm pretty sure some creatures could have evolved farther with an extra 9 billion years.

"finding a planet that can sustain life is very very rare"

Finding a planet that can sustain *OUR* life is very rare. Who says what requirements an extraterrestrial may have? Perhaps they need it to be over 400 degrees and they breathe nitrogen. Who knows?

I am for sure one of those who believe. When you grow up in ohio you are used to seeing all kinds of crazy things in the sky in fields and on dark roads. I have all kinds of real experiences.

You have to be foolish to not think intelligent life exists somewhere out there in the universe HOWEVER... The universe is HUGE and incomprehensible for humans, finding a planet that can sustain life is very very rare, even if we did the chances that life on that planet being more intelligent as we are has very low odds. The universe is huge, and would be so hard to find that life, that is why I don't believe in UFO's, however not dismissing it entirely..
