HumanAction-"They spent 1.2 million on sales, promotional, and time on a project that they later rejected. Boom 1.2 million spent out the door in losses."

Okay, they 'lost' $1.2 million. (actually, it was not lost, it went somewhere. someone made a wage on it.)

Maybe for that $1.2 million they did research that found if they went with that project it'd cost them $1.2 billion in losses. So it may have been worth it.
Or maybe technology changed, or the market, or something, which made it not worth it to pursue the project. They ended up wasting $1.2 million of THEIR money. (you know? THEIR money...as in NOT YOURS to complain about)

HumanAction-"While they bicker with every PO we send them."

Well, if a company is willilng to take a $1.2 million loss on another project is bickering over every PO you send them could just demonstrate that they have some reason to question the validity
of your charges.

What kind of country allows a government to have this kind of power? 800.000 without income? (If the information provided in the media here is correct anyway.) Belgium went without a federal government for over 500 days, not a single income suffered from it. What does it matter which political party is responsible for it, this situation should never be allowed to happen.

"Also, the Amber Alert system was shut down for almost 24 hours."

The "system" WAS NOT shut down, read the statement from the NCMEC's communications director.

"It's all functioning, only the DOJ website, which is informational, is down. The states run Amber Alerts and the NCMEC does secondary alerts. SERVICE HAS NOT BEEN IMPACTED."

VV @normalfreak2: Lolz-wut?

That's like saying:

Our football team is great! We're 2-12, and the players are all bad, but it's a GREAT TEAM!

Bush was blamed for everything when he was in office, same 'rules' apply for Obama.

@HA

Yes I agree. I agree to blame the Government if we define what the Government is. I blame the PEOPLE RUNNING it. The Government by itself is fine, the people running it are probably to blame.

As a moderate and anyone else that claims to be how could you ever support the current Republican party?. Heck if you consider yourself "conservative" how in the world are you so easily deceived by stories that are PROVEN TO BE LIES and still supporting them? Anyone that even attempts to be neutral sees misinformation being spread. Left Right, black white, blue, Conservative, Progressive. Spreading lies hurts EVERYONE. Stand up to your parties, your friends, your beliefs and stop supporting blatant lies and untruths. They aren't helping anyone.

@normalfreak

Greed is what is causing high unemployment not the Government.

If you would, can you please explain why greed is suddenly so varied and extreme as to explain away high unemployment?

I, on the other hand, view greed as a relative constant; it seems highly unlikely that, within the last 10 years, greed has experienced rampant growth. Rather, I suspect some changes have occurred that have allowed greed to exist in a (somewhat) unchallenged state.

I think you would agree that government (authority) has bedded corporations. Who then must we blame? It seems reasonable that we would fault the authority figure. For example, if a parent and child assault an old lady, our reaction is to fault the parent - the authority figure.

Sadly, this leads us to the conclusion that government, not corporations, is the faulty entity.

Actually CJ I'm not going to blame Government for Employers not hiring. I'm going to squarely blame the fat cats and CEO's that are happy with not spending money on "personnel here in America. Greed is what is causing high unemployment not the Government. This is one of those situations where Gorvernment is needed to protect the people from the Vultures on Wall Street.

This is anecdotal but I work with a billion dollare revenuing company. We are a vendor for them. They spent 1.2 million on sales, promotional, and time on a project that they later rejected. Boom 1.2 million spent out the door in losses. While they bicker with every PO we send them. It's amazing they are willing to blow a million on something they don't even want or need but won't pay to increase their workforce. Why? Greed.

The information site is not the Amber Alert system. Shutting it down is inconsequential.

Oh, I agree entirely; it's a complete non-story. Nonetheless, I find myself constrained to read words as they are written.

While I suppose you could say that I'm being too literal, I'd be left to wonder how then should words be read - if not literally?

The information site is not the Amber Alert system. Shutting it down is inconsequential. To blame Obama for it and say that he only started back up after he "realized it was doing him more harm than good politically", it just putting a crazy spin on it and showing a huge lack of understanding of the way technology works. It's akin to complaining that taking the advertisements off of city buses is the same thing as stopping the transit system.

It's funny how many of you believe the fake emails and posts that are made. Someone creates a fake Obama post, shares it on Facebook, and suddenly you guys are yelling about it here. It's a great window into who believes everything they read from their Uncle, on Facebook. I see the shares at night and then see the angry posts here in the morning.

Beautiful summary, Auburn. Good conclusion drawn from this too.

The Right wing email and Facebook sharing has sent off many a lie in hopes of continuing the hatred. If you check all of those propaganda emails against Snopes.com, you'll find they are all lies. Amber Alert was never shut down:

whodat: "...House Republicans trying to take food out of the mouths of veterans & their families."

Such vitriolic unfounded liberal crap. You get your marching orders from the likes of Daily KOS, one of the most dishonest and casuistic websites ever.

It cost more money to shutdown the memorials than to keep them open, money that could've be spent on the SNAP benefits you claim were cut.

Btw, It's Obama's fault that 47 million people need SNAP benefits in the first place. It's his disastrous policies that have contributed to high unemployment and the lowest labor participation rate since Jimmy Carter. But just ignore those facts and keep blaming republicans.

Also, about the golf course:

If it's on base, it should be closed.

There are loads of attractions that are funded through public fees and donations that are closed due to the shutdown. Mount Vernon is privately owned, but the federal government closed the parking lot. Why? Is it saving the government money, forgoing all those parking fees?

Or, is it just a game to say "Hey look! Beloved Mount Vernon is closed! The Republicans did this! The Tea Party did this!"

Occam's Razor.

Stop and think about it...

One side wants to fund the government, in spite of one program.

One side wants to fund one program, in spite of the government.

Which side is best? Neither. Which side caused this? #2.

Don't waste your time man. these two are not ready to stop and think about it, but just gung ho to defend their viewpoint.

the real hint is in the fact they get pissy about vets not being able to visist memorials,("democrats fault"but when it comes to the food on the table they remain silent..(republican)

And in the midst of a HUGELY IMPORTANT CRISIS???
Obama goes golfing!

Like I said, a few memorials that are closed to get a message across does not bother me as much as House Republicans trying to take food out of the mouths of veterans & their families. There's a HUGE difference between the two, it's not that hard to understand.

Apparently it is.

"Obama's Golf Course remains open, and you still support HIM?"

It's not "Obama's Golf Course" it's called The Courses at Andrews.
