"...also "you are tearing me apart, lisa" is a common phrase of exasperation..."
This movie was not meant to be comedy.
He was an out-of-work actor who shot a movie, having cast himself in the lead...

#10. I quote The Room way too much, literally an almost daily basis. i say "oh hi mark" to my bf and his name isn't even mark, it's john. also "you are tearing me apart, lisa" is a common phrase of exasperation. and the messed up chicken dance.
#6 Pee-Wee's big adventure features one of my favourite Danny Elfman scores, including his famous "Breakfast Machine" theme
#5. If you don't know tons of quotes of Monty Python's The Holy Grail, don't talk to me.
#2. My family owns 3 versions of Spinal Tap, 2 DVDs(1 was a gift) and the vhs, as well as the soundtrack on CD. I know all the words to their songs, Spinal Tap was a vital part of my childhood.
#1. This is obvious and I am totally on board with it, when I was ~13 I literally watched this movie everyday for a month.

Oddly, the only three I have seen are the british ones.. The Rocky Horror show always fascinated me because the ads for the stage show were all over the route of the no9 bus to High St Ken as a child.. very risque indeed..

I like 'Death Race 2000' and 'Phantom Of The Paradise'. And the classics like 'Forbidden Planet', Rocky Horror, Little Shop Of Horrors.

Super Troopers was filmed all over the area I grew up in the Hudson Valley of NY. I've always loved that movie but never realized it was filmed there until I watched the DVD with the audio commentary track. The story about scene at the gun range with the bullet proof cup is hilarious. It was filmed on the grounds of the Fishkill Correctional Facility and they said the prisoners in the yard were whistling, cat calling and describing what they'd do to his a$$ if they got their hands on him, hahaha!

In the gay world the cult classic is The Women. 1939 - brilliantly directed by George CuKor.

well when you start a list of comedies with "this one's not suppose to be a comedy" all rules go out the window.

No "Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein," "Galaxy Quest," "Raising Arizona" or "What's Up, Tiger Lily"?

Still, a fun post.

First of all, she talks too much. Could have covered those movies in 5 minutes. That said who comes up with these lists? Do they just throw the first 10 films they can think of into it?

The first one was funny, but not a comedy as she said, it's just a horrible drama. Belongs on the "10 Dramas That Are Funny" list.

Super Troopers was good, but not cult-level.
Phantom Of The Paradise could have been on there.
and I'm Gonna Get You Sucka was better than many on the list.

It is inconceivable that Princess Bride is not in that list.

Surely you'd have to include Airplane.
