I would have stuck St. Elsewhere or ER somewhere in that list. They were the first believable and entertaining ensemble casts in a medical setting.
And no westerns? Bonanza (24 years) or Gunsmoke (20)?

Kitteh9: so it's more like a focus group to determine what the "best" shows are?

That explains how Scrubs made it onto this list.

For people who want to know the method behind the list:

It is from a polling site that has tens of thousands of people who vote on the available polls. This particular poll had 526 TV shows named to vote on and the ranking is the popular vote of those polled. I only listed the top 40 because 1) Slightly lazy and 2) TIME.These things take me a long time to put together.

So it is not one persons opinion but the opinion of thousands that came up with this list. I am sure that the programs that others have mentioned on this thread are on this list just further down than the 40 I put up. I couldn't list them all.

Scooby Doo is probably one of the oldest running series on there. They've tweaked a few things and the animations throughout the years.. but still. I think it should be on the list. It's as deserving as the Flintstones if not more.

@OldOllie, Serenity wasn't the pilot, it was made after the series ended to finish up the story.

About half of those shows should NOT be on this list! Like Scooby Doo, for example: it was a fun show for kids but by no means was it a good show!! Yikes, serious editing for this list is needed or to redefine the list as 'influential shows'.

Oh no British TV should have its own top 40 list, some outrageously good TV there.
