Bell most definitely invented the telephone. He was working on a type of hearing aid but ended up with the telephone. It was invented in Brantford, Ontario and the first long distance phone call was made from Brantford, Ont to Paris, Ont.

I have to agree with Darkhawk on this one.

Is this list for real?

"_____ did not invent _____." Wow. I can do that too:

Michael Jackson did not invent the internal combustion engine. Carl Lewis did not invent the elephant.

And despite all the scare mongering surrounding those +2053 nuclear (not nuc-u-lar) bombs, it's still only one country that has used them to kill...twice.

Whoever came up with this is an idiot. None of the crap he's sharing is accurate. For instance the Detroit Pizza guy inventing the bullet proof vest?
Look up Bullet Proof vest on Wikipedia.

Edison is the Steve Jobs of his day.
It's not enough to invent...you have to know how to market it. Ford didn't invent the car, but he changed the world making it available.

@OldOllie: TRUE! It was seriously a moment of pure genius, but took about a decade before anyone else was smart enough to understand it.
Hedy = Genius! (Damn good looking too!)

Edison bought the "light bulb" patent from some Canadians. He surely did NOT "invent it" although he did develop it a great deal.

A.G.Bell DO TOO invent the telephone! Liars! His patents pre-date ALL others! Well, the ones that actually WORK anyhow!

Not a bad outing @kitteh9... not bad!

I wanna believe posts like this, but I have a bit of a hard time with it without at least seeing the "source material".

It's in the corporations best interest to make Steve Jobs into some genius innovative inventor because it makes them look great in comparison. Jobs, like Edison, was more of just a good businessman who knew very well how to take other people's inventions and take all the credit for it. There's nothing Apple has created that they actually invented.

Edison stole a lot of patents. And the pizza guy definitely did not invent the bullet proof vest.

According to the MIT School of Engineering, Paul Winchell was also "the first to design and patent a concept for an implantable, mechanical, artificial heart .... Winchell, in fact, invented a number of devices, receiving a total of 30 patents in his lifetime, for products ranging from a disposable razor, to a flameless cigarette lighter, portable blood plasma defroster, invisible garter belt, retractable fountain pen and battery-heated gloves. He also owned a shirt factory and proposed an idea he called 'The Tilapia Project,' which would have used the production of rapidly reproducing tilapia fish to help feed starving people in under-developed nations."

Not bad for a guy who made his living as a ventriloquist.
