Why go after ex-pats, when corporations are getting free rides? ...Oh, wait, that's right Corporations have lobbyists to right their laws, ex-pats don't.

A money grab with an unexpected(?) blow-back. Tho the possibility is the numbers may be up on renouncements, but could be a calculated cost compared to the total amount numbers wise.

In that light, it's less "unexpected", and more of a calculated risk. Which too will have blow-back implications that are as yet to be foreseen.

I always found it rather amusing with my american friends that as a British citizen I was not taxed whilst out of the country but they were. America fought for independence so that her people didn't have to pay taxes to the British. Now the shoe is on the other foot.

My mother is an American, I refused the citizenship. Dual tax is one of the reasons. Completely asinine & they can rid of it they would only have sensible corporate taxes!

I ran a business in US and happily paid the due taxes. My family lives in US and happily pays personal taxes.
So it's not the taxation I have the issue with. The burdon in the middle class families with kids; with the dual taxation is insane.

So they love you when they want to escape their oppressive regimes and lives of begging on the streets but because you want something in return...f*** that, pay up!
Unfortunately, the UK hammers its own in order to help these spongers.

I don't care, let them renounce citizenship, it's one of the major reasons we became our own country anyways. Taxation without representation.

Once they're all gone, who's going to pay for Obamacare?

Old news. I posted something about this last year. The rich rats are bailing on the sinking ship and taking their money with them. They know were past the point of repair so they're bailing for tax-friendly countries.

Basically, they won't be able to get away with tax evasion as easy as they used to if they remain a US citizen. F*ck 'em, who cares? I wouldn't call 1000 of over 6 million people a "trend" either.
