The pithiness of the quote used in this video makes me think it may have come from Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's Minister of Propaganda. But Hitler himself expressed much the same idea

Regardless of whether or not Hitler expressed the same ideas, doesn't change the fact that starting a video off with unsubstantiated quotes immediately ruins the credibility of the individuals producing the video.

It would be the same as if an Atheist made a video to disprove Christianity but started the video with a Biblical "quote" that can't be found anywhere in the Bible.

Actually, fascism is considered far right.

Only by gullible people who have bought into the liberal lies, slander, and indoctrination.

Ollie,
Actually, fascism is considered far right. Also Conservatives seem to want to make restrictive rules more than Liberals, as I've experienced it. Liberals want rules for everyone to treat everyone else fairly. Personally, I find a lot of them annoying, with all the
so-called "politically correct" BS. I find that most politically correct moves are socially irresponsible. While I am a pretty liberal thinker, I try not to be a jerk.

@TheChuck My point was can't we analyze and criticize the current political system and policies without constantly comparing it to Hitler (or Stalin or Mao)?

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

@broizfam, I didn't say Hitler was a liberal; I said Hitler was a leftist. While Nazis and liberals are both leftists, they differ by the degree to which they want to boss you around and take your stuff.

"In case you didn't notice, the post was ABOUT Hitler. What you are saying is that we shouldn't compare Hitler to Hitler."

Did you watch the whole thing? The last 2.5 minutes were about the American parliamentary, 535 people having all the power, low voter participation in this country, the road to servitude etc. Why would a video about Hitler go into that?

The setup is Hitler's rise to power and the main point is to compare that to the current US system and that we shouldn't let it continue. If you interpreted it has a history lesson, good for you, but you probably didn't watch the whole thing.

My point was can't we analyze and criticize the current political system and policies without constantly comparing it to Hitler (or Stalin or Mao)?

Martin Niemöller, A prominent Protestant pastor in Germany at that time said:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

There are a few slightly different versions, all essentially the same. It makes an important an enduring point. This is why whites need to speak up for the rights of blacks, why straights need to speak up for the rights of gays, why men need to speak up for the rights of women. This is why theists and atheists, alike, need to recognise and speak up for the rights of the other.
Another famous and applicable quote:
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

sheckydamon,
Doesn't matter who or what the "big offenders" of history were. Fascism is far right, Communism is far left.

OldOllie,
You're certainly right. Nazism and Communism were supposed to be very different but were very much the same in practice. I don't know where you got the "Hitler was a liberal" bit. Maybe he was, early in his life, I don't know. Clearly, though, he was not particularly liberal as a national leader. Unless you're saying that he was very liberal about who got to die.

@S4S Your statement could only be taken to read, "You're wrong BECAUSE you agree with Glenn Beck." You didn't refute what I said; you only linked it to a boogieman, and that, in an of itself, was sufficient in your mind to discredit the idea. That, my friend, makes it a TEXTBOOK example of an ad hominem attack.

You also seem to be under the misapprehension that all leftists are kindred spirits and get along famously with each other. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, more often they are at each other's throats like two big dogs fighting over the same bone. Look at the history of relations between the USSR and the ChiComs. Hitler hated Stalin, and vice versa, but not because they had some esoteric disagreement on the philosophy of government. Rather, they both wanted to expand their empires into Eastern Europe.

The German American Bund didn't turn on Roosevelt because they disagreed with his redistributionist economic policies; they turned on Roosevelt because he was starting to express his opposition to Germany's military buildup. That meeting in NY was only 8 mos. before Hitler invaded Poland.

The fact that Hitler blamed his problems on communists did not make him the opposite of a communist. In fact, communists and fascists had almost everything in common, including their lust for power, which put them in direct conflict with each other.

Let me ask you this: had Germany won WWII, how would life have been any different in Eastern Europe under Nazi occupation from how it was under the Soviet Occupation? It wouldn't have made a bit f difference to the people there, because their philosophy of government was the same: boss people around and take their stuff.

@ RobSwindol: "Guess what? Hitler never said 'Make a lie big, make it simple...' and all the rest of that."

The pithiness of the quote used in this video makes me think it may have come from Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's Minister of Propaganda. But Hitler himself expressed much the same idea:

The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan. As soon as you sacrifice this slogan and try to be many-sided, the effect will piddle away, for the crowd can neither digest nor retain the material offered. In this way the result is weakened and in the end entirely cancelled out. --*Mein Kampf*, 851.-855. Aufl., S. 198.

How Ironic!!!

Guess what? Hitler never said "Make a lie big, make it simple..." and all the rest of that.

So this video is trying to make us aware or the lies governments tell us, by lying to us about what governments tell us?

@ Ollie: How have I in any way made an ad hominem attack on Glenn Beck? I simply stated that you're getting your understanding of political parties from him. Where's the ad hominem attack?

I wasn't going to get into the subject of fascism in America and Hitler, but you leave me no choice.

The biggest assembly of fascists in U.S. history occurred at Madison Square Garden in NYC in 1939. It was the German American Bund organization. 20,000 American Nazi sympathizers rallied and listened to speeches railing against President "Rosenfeld" and attacked his "Jew Deal," as they called it. The American fascists detested his progressive policies.

In *Mein Kampf*, Hitler blames every conceivable problem facing Germany on two groups: The Jews and the Communists.

Your belief that Hitler was a liberal, and that all evil in the world has been committed by liberals, is nuttier than squirrel poop.

But you get your understanding of political parties from Glenn Beck. Not so awesome.

Wow, S4S, your ad hominum attack on Glenn Beck sure trumped my careful study of early 20th century history. I guess you told me.

@Zeegrr60, your post was just a complete non sequitur. BTW, if Bush lied, so did nearly every Democrat in congress who voted to authorize the use of force in Iraq.

Conservatives have heard the whistle blowing for a long time now. But in response we are called racists, bigots, haters, and fascists.

We, in fact, want none of Europe's history to be repeated here. Alas, we are currently running full speed ahead right off the cliff.

Liberals would rather we crash so hard that they'll wrest control, in the resulting chaos, and remake the constitution to fit their socialist goals.

Once remade, those liberals in power will cull the "useful idiots" and enslave the rest of us. Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and others have done just that.

If we allow the liberals to follow Alinksy's plan to dominance, the way Obama has done so far. It will take several generations before our God given rights and freedoms are once again restored.

it was more like 50 million people died because of the lunatic. but to draw a parallel between the current loss of legitimacy of the current US power structure is warranted. the US has shifted to an aristocracy from a democracy since Regan.

Ollie, Ollie, Ollie. You get your physics--which you understand better than 99.99% of the population--from Isaac Newton. Awesome.

But you get your understanding of political parties from Glenn Beck. Not so awesome.

Sorry Ollie, but the republican party's G,W.Bush did the large lie to start two wars. And we shall survive Bush. Listen to the right? OK. They say Americans can be held without a warrant for as long as they want to hold them. Even after death. Nice. But hey, read the "Patriot act" and weep for your lost liberty. Think you are "Free"?

@Sleepyhallow You're a gullible f***tard who has bought the liberal lie. Why did all the early 20th Century American Progressives embrace European fascism as the wave of the future? Fascism only fell out of favor with the American Left AFTER Hitler invaded Poland. Later, the Progressives, who changed their name to Liberals after Progressivism had fallen into utter disgrace for their support of fascism, used the label of fascism to slander the right by claiming falsely that fascism and communism were opposite ends of the political spectrum when in fact, there's not a dime's worth of difference between them. Fascism, communism, socialism, progressivism, and liberalism are just different flavors of leftism. They all have the same basic philosophy: boss people around and take their stuff.

And yes, I know this isn't what you've been taught all your life. I'm telling you that what you've been taught is a bunch of liberal bull$#!+,
