@ Razbitom: Oh! I had no idea that such a thing already existed. ~facepaw~ This story gets more and more interesting.

I still don't understand why they chose the name *splayd* though.

but splayd already is a commercial branded runcible spoon with a squared and slightly sharpened edge, readily available in most store that carry cutlery.

Shouldn't it be SPORFE?
SPoon + fORk + kniFE = SPORFE!

Quick anagram check; 'SPLAYD' not in it, no AYD.
I quite like 'SPORNE'.

"Actually, the company Light My Fire makes a combination knife-spoon-fork already and they simply call it a *spork*."

If you use two of them together, you can eat chinese food with it.

A coworker of mine brings one of those to work every day - it's actually pretty damn cool though it seems "babypoo yellow" is the only color it comes in.

It's fun to see people's outrage in a restaurant when you shout to the waiter "Can I get a fork n knife over here?"

@ Lauriloo: Sounds like a good, if greasy, time. Roasted lamb is very tasty.

@ Deyv87: I agree with you. I have no idea how they came up with *splayd*. Weird. I'd suggest *knoork* myself. Or maybe your suggestion of *foofe*--that made me laugh.

I like how none of fork, spoon, or knife has either an 'l,' an 'a,' a 'y,' or a 'd.' It could easily be called a "spirk," a "sporfe," a "knork," or a "foofe."

I once stayed at a castle in Wales that had a medieval dinner. We ate roasted lamb, drank mead, etc. with just a knife and our hands. Lots of fun but kind of messy!
