I've seen a documentary about Mokele Mbembe. Turned out it was just an elephant.

@ Jake: LOL re: Larry King. I just looked him up on Wikipedia: 79 years old. And get this: he's been married *eight* times. He married his sixth wife in 1989 after proposing to her on their first date. The couple separated the following year and divorced two years after that.

Asking a woman to marry on a first date?! After your first five marriages have already failed? Are you kidding me?! I find that degree of bad judgment in his personal life hard to reconcile with his professional success. What a piece of work!

I can accept the odd species which is not extinct because the remaining population is in a very remote area, but surely either a population is too small to continue or it grows slightly? The idea that an animal can remain at undetectable levels for decades seems odd.

I think all of them are plausible except #3. I don't care how remote it is, I'm pretty sure we would know if the wooly mammoth was still around. The others could be hiding in remote areas and not easily seen. But I think the mammoth is too much of a stretch.

Reports continue to surface regarding the Great Woolly Squirrel. Measuring 35 feet from the nose to the tip of its shaggy tail, the Great Woolly Squirrel once dominated the North American continent, roaming the prairies in massive herds containing as many as 10,000 individuals. Reports of Great Woolly Squirrels in the wilds of South Dakota have been scoffed at as the product of imaginative elk hunters and too much whisky. But recent DNA tests suggest a small colony of Great Woolly Squirrels may still exist somewhere west of Rapid City. =O.O=

I feel like I just turned on the "History" channel and this ran right after the "Mermaids are Real" special.
