Destroying government property ... wow, that'd go over real well.

Not to mention that many places try very hard to get morons to STOP dangerously firing guns up into the air ... and these guys are trying to issue licenses promoting it. *facepalm*

Change the town's name to Darwinville.

@RobSwindol - Do you know how to f*cking read? I'm not talking about your cute little RC planes that Massachusetts SWAT is using. Sure, they use them too, but I'm talking about reconnaissance drones that typically fly from 10,000 to 30,000 feet and loiter for 24-48 hours at a time. I don't give a f*ck about your skate uav.

In twenty years surveillance bots will be so small you'll never know they are there. The enemy isn't drones but the clones who operate them, authorize them and manipulate the information they gather.

[quote">I'm talking about the UAV's our gov't uses for that kind of surveillance.[quote">

Once again, you are proving that you don't know your azzhole from your elbow. I realize you are talking about drones that our government uses for surveillance. But what you obviously don't realize is that our government DOES also use remote control planes as UAV's.

Here is a link to the Skate UAV that I mentioned earlier. Military and law enforcement agencies are already using these small, RC planes as UAVs.

So when you talk about "Drones that our government uses", you ARE talking about RC Planes as well, whether you realize it or not.

@RobSwindol - Am I talking about people flying RC planes? No. Sounds to me like you're the one that doesn't know his a$$hole from a hole in the ground.

I'm talking about the UAV's our gov't uses for that kind of surveillance. Those UAV's are larger, carry sophisticated surveillance equipment and fly at altitudes where they can't be easily detected by the naked eye. The whole point of "spying" on people is to do it so they don't know about it, if they can hear and see a little RC plane zipping around it defeats the purpose.

I can just see all these gun-toting, anti-government types rushing into the street and blazing away at some poor guy's RC airplane!

Here is our US Government's definition of "Drone".

A powered, aerial vehicle that does not carry a human operator, uses aerodynamic forces to provide vehicle lift, can fly autonomously or be piloted remotely, can be expendable or recoverable, and can carry a lethal or nonlethal payload. Ballistic or semiballistic vehicles, cruise missiles, and artillery projectiles are not considered unmanned aerial vehicles. Also called UAV.

Now keep in mind that it doesn't say the plane had to carry a lethal or nonlethal payload, but only that it "can" carry a lethal of nonlethal payload.

So the aircraft below fits the definition of a drone. Will I be able to get bounty on it if I shoot it down?

Considering the fact that the majority or UAV's fly at an altitude well out of range of rifles & shotguns, even though it's a "symbolic ordinance" as he called it, it's still f*cking stoopid. Unless they have radar & SAM sites in their backyards they won't hit a damn thing.

Obviously someone doesn't know their azzhole from their elbow when it comes to drones. Not all drones are even full sized planes. Some are quite small. I know, because I built drones for a while. One of them I worked on was called the Skate, and it was about the size of a brief case. It flew just like any other remote control plane.

In fact, a hobbyist's remote control plane is technically a drone by our government's standards.

so this crazy guy who drafted the ordinance is serious? I am guessing that in the near future, we will have a news report of a small single engine aircraft or a glider being shot down with all the passengers killed, because Cleatus thunked it were the gobment

I think it would be really cool to build an R/C Aircraft and shot the drones down with it.

Woah, $100. Shoot down a $12M dollar drone with a shotgun and some toothless hillbilly will give you $100.

Stroke of genius. It hasn't cost the town a cent but has garnered a lot airtime to publicize the fact that a lot of Americans are NOT OK with the government using our tax dollars to spy on us from the skies.
