@handimanner I'll focus on Homoeopathy. It 'works' on principle like for like what harms you will heal you. But it waters down the 'distillates' to such an extent a typical remedy will contain 1 molecule in the size of an Olympic swimming pool. They get round this by saying water has a memory, which they activate no lie by hitting against a saddle filled with horse hair. There has never been one meta study or cochrane study which has shown homoeopathy to be better than a placebo. But there has been countless examples of people following it and getting seriously hurt or dieing.

You just described vaccinations, putting damaged non-deadly viruses/bacteria into the body to encourage your body to build a resistance and get the anti bodies into the system.

Alternative medicine stops being alternative when it's proven to work better than a sugar pill.

Quackery is completely off. Shiatsu, Acupuncture, Homeopathy??? All are proven beneficial.
Shiatsu and Acupuncture use Chinese approach to noninvasive meds with physical manipulation. Homeopathy is using distillates (think inoculation) to encourage bodily defense.

"Faith is the single greatest source of contentment."

I disagree...there are lots of things that give more contentment than faith.

- Masturbation
- Taking a good dump at home when you have the house to yourself and a good book to read until the seat makes your legs go numb.
- The smell of someone else's fries.
- The smell of your own farts.
- Seeing an arse of a driver being pulled over by the police.
- Doing a really throaty, long burp after drinking a really fizzy drink.
- When your cats/dogs/pets do something so cute that you forgive them for occasionally pooting on the stairs.

To name but a few...

Well, I'm positive this is a repost but whatever. Unless I saw this on another website, coulda sworn I saw it here though a month-month and a half ago.

Everything is bullocks if you believe it to be. Faith is the single greatest source of contentment.

Woah, who the heck did this? I agree with 90% of the stuff listed but lot's or errors are included.

"@ake_Justus Qi is still quackery bullpoo mystical forces. My father-in-law was nearly killed by a Qi-Gong charletan."

You may as well put the mainstream medical establishment on this Diagram, then, since some 100,000 people die each year from preventable medical error in nice, safe, modern, "scientific" hospitals.

BTW, I'm not into alternative medicine myself, so I have no dog in this race. But it's easy to make up some "bulls**t chart" and put anything you don't like on it. I notice Politics isn't listed. Why not, given people's irrational (and idiotic) allegiance to ideologies and parties?

If you bash Shiatsu, you probably never had a cute Japanese girl walk barefoot all over your back.

I am aware how that might sound, but my back never felt better...

It's "religion".
Therefore the Church of the Jedi is just as valid as anything Mohamed said.
Faith is wonderful. You don't need any pesky proof. Whatever you wish to believe is true.

And they say I'm dumb to believe in Star Trek.

Shiatsu, chiropractic and Rolfing are all valid (within certain limitations, of course!).

Crop Circles? Until someone duplicates them? ALL of them? They remain largely "unsolved"...
Afaik? Not one has successfully been copied... although many have been shown as "fakes"? Again, not all of them...

Just because I own 10 "fake gold coins" doesn't mean I also don't own 2 real ones... so long as I don't try to pass off the fakes as real...

Jake has a point - they need to stick "traditional Chinese medicine" in there, right next to Qi.

If you can believe in The Father, The Son AND The Holy Spirit while simultaneously insist your faith is Monotheistic....then transubstantiation isn't that far of a reach. You can convince yourself of anything at that point.

"Qi" doesn't really belong here. Although it could refer to some sort of all-pervasive mystical "life-force," it's also used in a more practical sense in Traditional Chinese medicine to describe the body's natural rhythms.

I like how Scientology is right in the middle, but they left out Global Warming! That should be right between Bigfoot and dowsing.

Yes. Although I'd argue anything on that chart is rubbish, Scientology is designed to suck out your money. "If you want to make a little money, write a book. If you want to make a lot of money, create a religion." etc.
