That's why I laughed when I read an article that the writer believed women were getting prettier while men were getting uglier. No, make-up is getting better.

Yeah, and makeup also made one of the girls hair line move around an inch lower on her forehead, in relation to her eyes, the same girl's ears are different shapes, a few others ears are different shapes, as well as a few teeth being different shapes. I wonder about the teeth. Think there may be a reason most of them don't show them? Nah, can't be, they can be fixed with makeup! You go ahead and believe what you want. I agree, a lot can be, and is, done with makeup, but it only goes so far. I don't claim to have any kind of "extra-sensory perception skill", just half-way decent "powers" of observation. Most people look at the world around them all day, every day, and see less than half of what they are looking at. You, unfortunately, seem to be one of those people.

I'm sorry if you think you have some kind of extra-sensory perception skills, but you don't. You're just underestimating a skilled makeover. When hightlights and shadows are expertly manipulated, you would be very hard pressed to tell, particularly from a 2"x2" internet photo.

There's no reason to doubt that these pairs of pictures are the same women, none of the changes I see are at all beyond belief. I agree there's more than just makeup, these are full makeovers so yes, some eyebrows were plucked and hairstyles were changed, etc. When makeup, lighting and staging are artfully combined you can most definitely achieve these effects you seem so doubtful of. Those "thick wrinkles" for example? It's makeup, sure, plus a combination of lighting her neck into shadow and having her angle her body away and lean into the camera.

"Makeup seems to function for its intended purpose and I take that personally. Hygiene is unnatural and smacks of deception."

makeup =/= hygiene

Makeup is unhygienic. It's bacteria-filled chemical goop and powders. I specifically gave up make up because it was causing acne.

I actually do take it personally when the beauty industry sells us on the idea that we can only be attractive if we buy all their products. All the money I save on that crap, I'll spend on a vacation and sexytimes with my man. I'll save the time on an extra hour of sleep, which will do far more.

Cake make up, for when you want to look awesome in a wedding photo that can't be touched up.

Some look just fine without makeup, others look like clowns with it.

Comment section deconstructed
"Women are sluts. Makeup makes you a slut. The other gender is incomprehensible to me."

"I am generous enough to offer these women the gift of my body in a hypothetical sense."

"I am so sensitive! I don't think any woman should ever wear makeup. They're all beautiful on the inside and out. Look at how respectful I am and appreciate how that makes me a good person."

"Makeup seems to function for its intended purpose and I take that personally. Hygiene is unnatural and smacks of deception."

"As a woman I just want to point out that I am better than these people."

"As a woman I just want to point out that I am better than the other commenters."

"I am looking for an excuse to debate over minutiae on the internet."

"Me too. Let's have a go of it, vis a vis some pointless semantics surrounding the attributes of what makeup

@Chalket:
No, I'm not an idiot, and no, I'm not trolling. As you yourself said, makeup can change the APPEARANCE of various facial features. Not the actual feature, just the appearance. I'm sorry if you can't tell the difference between an APPARENT change, and an ACTUAL change, but I can. I guess makeup can also cause the thick wrinkles on one of the women's neck to disappear? I guess if you spread it on like Spackle, it might. Also, you can't change the shape of eyebrows. You can certainly add to them, but you can't make parts of them disappear with makeup, and on a few of them, there is a radical difference, as in a lot "less" eyebrow in the made-up shot. Either there is more than just makeup involved, in at least most of these, or they are completely different people.

@sleepyhallow - Girls be wondering why guys lie to them...... It's because you lied first, bitch!

And you can't clearly see that a woman is wearing makeup? But we have no way of telling what comes out of your mouth is a lie.... Other than your lips are moving!!!

It's not just makeup. The 'before' pictures are also in harsh, unflattering light and the 'after' pictures are in full studio light, some of them are also wearing colored contacts and I bet the pictures themselves were touched up.

I have to wonder if #7 isn't a man?

No amount of makeup can fix cross-eyed (#9).

And I also have to wonder if @WhoSaidWhat is an idiot or just trolling...
"Makeup can't change the width of a face, the length of a nose, the length of a neck, the hair line"
No, not physically, but in skilled hands makeup CAN and does change the APPEARANCE of the width of a face, the length of a nose, the length of a neck, the hair line, etc.

Look closer. Most of these aren't even the same person. One or two might be, but no more. Makeup can't change the width of a face, the length of a nose, the length of a neck, the hair line, etc. There is some feature on almost all of these pics that is substantially different, you just have to look closely enough to see it.

the reason they don't look so good without make up is because they cake that crap on. Can't be good for the pores and everything.

~u~ *squirrel hugs!*

GERRRYY I would come and pinch you, if only my feet weren't shackled to this stove. </3

Tumblr put it best :) Why do we have to pluck and primp and diet and style and makeup our faces for a guy in sweatpants who hasn't trimmed his pubes in three months?

......Oh wait, it's because I enjoy it and I did it for me, not you. Oh yeah >>;

I see nothing wrong with enhancing one's appearance, if one so wishes.
