'Click each time for the next item of the list'? No thanks. Those sites are aggravating at best.

Only #1 and #3 applied to me... I agree with emmettyville for the reason.
They'll have to pry my books from my cold dead hands before I stop reading!!!

"#5 We’re all PR slime balls now

There’s the real you – your real life and your real thoughts. Then there’s the you that you show the world on the internet. They seem much more interesting, fun, well-rounded and intelligent – precisely because you’ve managed their PR that way. Everyone does it, and I mean everyone."

Not me. IRL I am respectable and PC. Hell, I'm so PC I even married a bloody American. Here on IAB I open my heart and let the world know my true feelings.

Just gone back for a second look, still makes no sense. Fancy, can you post an explanation?

Most of them had nothing whatsoever to do with the internet, let alone ruin anything.

I "read" all the time. I have ebooks and use text to speech on my phone and computer. I also listen to the RPPR Actual Play podcast. And hell yes on reviews! Love reviews. Next time you link a list it better be to cracked.

That sucked. How is it bad knowing the value of things, have arguments "end" in a googling of facts, etc, etc, etc. Half those on the list are good things and not one mentioned wasting time here. :D

My CDs are still useful because my CD player kicks a$$. I have a decent D/A but it would take a lot of $ to equal my CD.

Some valid and interesting observations made here. Especially -
"#13 Living for the moment has taken a severe curbing." Maybe it's a generational thing, but I don't see the need to document every goddamn thing you do. I can remember some of the great musicians I got to see in concert in my younger days - Cream, Hendrix, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Gentle Giant, Roy Buchanan, etc. Just being in the presence of these masters was a thrill in itself. I couldn't imagine doing ANYTHING (tweeting, cell-phone filming, etc.) to break that spell.

As for constant texting? I don't get that. When I was a teenager, I read most of "The Lord of the Rings" while riding the subway. Commute time can be productive.

I agree about 50%. However, I read all the time, actual books, and dont really give a crap about my online identity etc. Maybe it's because I'm old enough to know what life was like before this and appreciate it.

@#12

Oh yes because information asymmetry was such a wonderful thing.
